Hi all, When I create a page in a Space called "MySpace" using Title "a.b.c" , it created a page call "c" under the space "a.b". (a.b: c) Is there anyway I can allow users create document with dot on the Title please? [xwiki-users] Xwiki LDAP Authentication doesn't work when you move a user to a different OU in Active Directory

Hello all, I'm working with the last version of XE and i get the LDAP authentication on my Active Directory Domain. My problem is when i move a user to a different OU in the Active Directory, the user can't login in Xwiki anymore...(Error : Wrong password). Is there a way to configure the xwiki.cfg in order the authentication could "browse" the all Active Directory to find the user and allow him to login ? Dear all, I have a class with a UserList attribute. I am trying to add users to this list from an other page with no success. Hi all, I'm trying to upgrade XWiki from 1.0 to 1.2. The problem comes when I want to import my .xar file (6Mb) and get a Java Heap Space Out Of Memory Exception. I've checked your admin page http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/FAQ/Howtoincreasethemaximumattachmentsi… and it looks like for my problem (file < 10Mb), only MySQL should be changed. So I've changed the max_allowed_packet parameter but the problem still occurs. I don't have anything in Tomcat or MySQL logs, which is a bit strange. The only trace I get is the one bellow. It looks like Lucene breaks because of the file upload not working. Any idea ? How could I get more details in the log ? Hello, I've gone to the XWikipreferences, then edit > Class. Here's what is set: name: upload_maxsize Pretty Name: Maximum Upload Size x No Number: 53 Number Type: long Size: 200 Error: XWiki has a default limit of around 10Mb for attached files. This limit can be changed using the upload_maxsize parameter. Check the FAQ for more information. Any ideas?

Hi All I am having a problem uploading a xar file. I get "Java Heap Space, Out of memory exception" (full message below). I've downloaded the latest version of XWiki for windows xp (beginner's version with HSQLDB & Jetty). In my start_xwiki.bat I have set "set JAVA_OPTS=-Xmx1600m -Xms512m". 1.6gb is the maximum as xwiki would not start if I go over this. I don't think I have CATALINA.bat any ware so I din not find where to set CATALINA_OPTS. I have changed file upload size to 133MB by going to http://localhost:8080/xwiki/bin/edit/XWiki/XWikiPreferences?editor=objec t and changing Maximum Upload Size:. The .xar file is 90MB downloaded as backup from http://patternlanguagenetwork.myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome. I do not know what version this runs on since it is on one of the xwiki farm things :-). I have Win XP with 3.5gb memory available. Has anyone had this error recently? Hi guys, I found a code snippet on xwiki.org, that does a TreeNav feature, but actually, this is not what I want. I would like to have the Treeview, as on /XWiki/Treeview inside a panel. As a matter of fact, it seems the code for Treeview does only work, when there is nothing else on that page, so adding just a line of text in the beginning of the XWiki/Treeview page seems to make the "+"-signs to open the tree-structure unusable. Probably for the same reason, I did not manage yet, to get it inside a panel. Do you have some ideas, what I could do to get what I want? Thanx, Sebastian

Hi, I'm using workspaces 1.2M1 as a virtual xwiki under xem 1.3. I have configured the XWikiServerClass object under XWikiServerServername to have the visibility property set to 'Private'. When I look at XWikiPreferences in the virtual xwiki, there are XWikiGlobalRights objects configured Deny, Groups:,Levels:Register,Users:XWikiGuest, and Deny, Groups:XWikiAllGroup, Levels: edit, register, Users: The registration form still appears on the login page, and upon filling in the fields and submitting, registration is successful. Hello again, I'm trying to create a link on a page that leads the user to the 'User Guide' provided by XWiki.org. Now changing the style works but when we try to change xhtmlxsl or fopxsl nothing happens. Is this a know bug or is there somthing one should know .... Hi guys! I juste read under http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/FAQ/ HowToCreateNestedPages that nested pages are currently not available. I really need this functionality for my current project. As sad on the FAQ this feature should be available soon. Can anyone tell me when this will happen? Hi list, I have a really weird bug which is quite annoying and I don't find any solution to it : I want to edit a page in inline mode. I have a form to select the page to edit with a button. I use the $xwiki.getURL() method to get the right URL. When i select my page and click on the edit button, I have an invalid URL error and i am deconnected. What is weird is that if I reconnect and actualize the page I can access it. The second weird thing is that I use exactly the same method to edit other pages form other forms in the same first page and I do not have the problem. I am quite lost with this issue. I tried to recreate the URL as a string but I have the same problem. I am thinking maybe this is a known bug in xwiki. If not maybe i am missing something somewhere. Hi, to automate group membership i wrote a Groovy script. It is called periodically via scheduler. This script use log4j to write some informations at info and at warning level to the console and to a database table. By now we are missing the output. It vanished since XWiki XE 1.6. Can you tell me how to enable the output again, please? Thanks. My old blog entries have been migrated and I can created new entries. Hi xwiki-users, In XWiki Syntax 1.0, I was able to do something like this: <a href="${documentURLRoot}"><img src="$xwiki.getSkinFile('icons/black-file.png')" alt="Root URL" title="Root URL" /></a> This would render an icon from the current skin as a link. I understand that in XWiki Syntax 2.0, there's a new form of this available: [[image:[email protected]>>${documentURLRoot}]] This works if the image exists in your document as an attachment, but doesn't work when the image link is relative to your web context: [[image:$xwiki.getSkinFile('icons/black-file.png')>>${documentURLRoot}]] This renders as the following: <a href="http://www.google.com/"> <img alt="/xwiki/skins/albatross/icons/black%2Dfile.png" class="wikimodel-freestanding" src="/xwiki/bin/download/XWiki/WebHome/%2Fxwiki%2Fskins%2Falbatross%2Ficons%2Fblack%252Dfile.png"/> </a> which is not what I expected... One workaround is to put an explicit "http://server-name:port/" before the $xwiki.getSkin() call, but that ties the wiki to the server's address/port. One other interesting thing I found out was that: {{velocity}} {{html wiki=true}} * this works - [[image: http://localhost:8080/$xwiki.getSkinFile('icons/black-file.png')]] * this doesn't work - <img src=$xwiki.getSkinFile('icons/black-file.png')> {{/html}} {{/velocity}} It seems that the HTML Macro's final filter parses this last test case as 1 BulletedListBlock and 1 XMLBlock, but I'm not sure if this the expected behavior. Weird little problem. I am trying to purge my xwiki of a lot of users who have left. But when I delete the user, go to another part of the XWiki and come back to the users page, all my deletions are magically back. I'm logged in as Admin. Any ideas? Sam

Hello, I've been trying to use the latest Xeclipse (both standalone and plugin) for some Velocity scripting, but a weird bug renders it unusable for me. When I try to open my page, it opens fine and is cached on the HDD. If I close the page and reopen it (or close eclipse) and try to open the cached page again, I get a com.thoughtworks.xstream.io.StreamException Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence. This seems to be an already resolved problem ( http://markmail.org/message/syf6cpe4vcne4tca) so how can I update the XStream version in XEclipse, or is a bugfix release already in the works? Hi, Guillaume (Lerouge) has done incredible work to transform all hardcoded strings in XWiki Enterprise to translations strings. We now have 620 translations strings more !!!! So we need all the help we can to get these translated before 1.8 final. I think we can achieve the following languages: French: 622 translations to do German: 629 translations to do Romanian: 1516 translations to do French and German were complete before we added the 620 more translations, and Romanian we HAVE to be able to do it with the number of romanians in the team ! Guillaume will coordinate the French translation. We need a volunteer from the Romanian team to coordinate the Ro translation. Let me know if there are volunteers to coordinate the translations effort in Geman or other languages before the final 1.8 release. Hello all, I'm trying to configure Kerberos SSO using AppServerTrustedAuthServiceImpl. I'm using latest xwiki, 1.8 rc 1 and to the contrary of what Admin Guide for Authentication states, this class is included in xwiki-core module. Nevertheless, I've configured application server well and set AppServerTrustedAuthServiceImpl to be used. Problem is that user authorization checks fail. In debug log I saw that user creation was started but auth_createuser context param was empty/null and thus not equal to string "empty" which createUser of XWikiAuthServiceImpl expects, so user wouldn't actually get created and thus when XWikiRightServiceImpl. To set auth_createuser parameter to "empty" I've adjusted xwiki.cfg by adding xwiki.authentication.createuser=empty. If this is what really has to be done, it would be good that Admin Guide gets updated with this information. After setting createuser to "empty", debug log changed but just a little bit (see attached log archive). Now it seems that user is being created but it still has no access rights. Hello friends, I am here to request help on embedding a balloon styled tooltip in our XWiki instance. I have had a fair amount of success in embedding various third party javascript libraries, however, the ones that depend on jquery do not seem to work through XWiki. I did go through an article which guides us through creating tooltips and custom validations in forms. Our requirement, however, is to have a balloon styled tooltip that can hold images, text (generally info) about the link that the user is about to visit if s/he were to click on it. Our users are having a hard time navigating the pages since they move from page to page assuming that the next page that they are about to visit is the one where they will find their answers. It is also not possible to load the current page with too much info about the links that they are about to visit (as this will lead to cluttered pages). Could someone be kind enough to guide me through embedding a tooltip that "pops-up" when the user hovers the mouse over a link. Or maybe there is plugin for it already which i might have missed. Hi guys, I'm doing the following in XWiki. I have 2 classes, let's say A and B with properties A1..n and B1..n respectively. Now, I have in my template for documents of class A a database list field with the ability to select properties B1 from all documents of class B. When I now change a property B1 in a selected document, then my field in A stays the same. This probably isn't a bug, but something like a backlink calculation and change properties accordingly feature not implemented yet. Do you have a workaround for what I want? Thanx for any answers. Hi all,I'm trying to enable attachments in the default workspaces install. I follow the instructions telling me to: * Go to /xwiki/bin/edit/XWiki/XWikiPreferences?editor=class * Add a new property called showcomments (or showattachments for turning off attachments) of type String Class * Go to /xwiki/bin/edit/XWiki/XWikiPreferences?editor=object&classname=XWiki.XWikiPreferences and write no in the showcomments (or showattachments) field Unfortunately, there is no option for "String Class" in the class editor, only "String". When I put both showcomments and showattachments in neither seem to toggle attachments or comments - comments are on, attachments are off. Anyone working with Workspaces able to get these to work? I'm hoping I'm just being thick and missing something obvious here. Hi xwiki-users, I've been playing with the new XWiki Syntax 2.0, but there are still some things possible with the old 1.0 syntax which are impossible in the new 2.0 syntax. One thing that I still cannot figure out is something like the following: {{html wiki=true}} <table id="serverList" class="grid sortable filterable doOddEven"> <tr class="sortHeader"> <th class="selectFilter">Space</th> <th>Class</th> <th>Server Name</th> <th class="unsortable noFilter">Link</th> </tr> {{velocity}} #foreach($serverDocument in $serverDocuments) <tr> <td>$serverDocument.Space</td> <td>$serverDocument.Name</td> <td> #foreach($serverObject in $serverDocument.getObjects($serverClass)) * $serverObject.HostName #end </td> <td>[[$serverDocument]]</td> </tr> #end {{/velocity}} </table> {{/html}} This gives me a lot of <br /> tags (the number of $server in $serverList), and ends up displaying 1 row with the literal string $server.Space, $server.Class, etc. It works if I use the normal table syntax: |=Space|=Class|=Server Name|=Link {{velocity}} #foreach($serverDocument in $serverDocuments) |$serverDocument.Space|$serverDocument.Name|???|[[$serverDocument]] #end {{/velocity}} but I'm not sure how I'd iterate over each object associated with the document in the tag marked '???'. Also, whenever I have a {{velocity}} tag, I end up with a lot of empty <p> elements: * Line 1 {{velocity}} #set($foo = "bar") {{/velocity}} * Line 2 This ends up with a <p> tag between "Line 1" and "Line 2", which seems very strange when rendered (since there's no content when "viewing"). Just my 2 cents on the new syntax. But other than that, creating macros now is a breeze (XWiki + Plexus is just purely amazing!), and I think the new syntax is only inches away from surpassing the old 1.0 syntax :-D Thanks again for the great work!

Hello, Yesterday we tried to install a 1.8 RC1 on a serv to test some new features but we had some blocker issues : no users listed in the admin page, no groups listed in the admin page, not any document listed in the WhatsNew etc. We first thought that it was a JS issue, but a : #set ($sql = "where 1=1") #set ($list = $xwiki.searchDocuments($sql)) {pre} $list {/pre} returned an empty list. Here is the description of the install : - We used a Debian Lenny 5.0 template (with Tomcat 6.0.18 & Java 1.6.0_12 pre-packaged) - We downloaded the .war file on http://maven.xwiki.org/releases/com/xpn/xwiki/products/xwiki-enterprise-web… - We installed Mysql with the debian package (5.0.51a-24 version) - We installed & configured the XE in UTF-8 - We used the standard hibernate conf (just added UTF-8 conf) - We kept the standard xwiki.cfg (+UTF8 elements) - We imported the xwiki-enterprise-wiki-1.8-rc-1 xar (found on XWiki.org) - We tested with different mysql-java-connector (current version : 5.0.7) The install is available here (if you want to check it) http://testapplis.xwiki.com/ The Whats New page here : http://testapplis.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WhatsNew Have you got any idea of the problem ? Hi, I should want a special link, in a xwiki page, so that when man clics on it, he get a new image (for instance, a clock with the hour of the clic). I suppose I need groovy. I know how to do an image with java, and I presume with groovy, but I don't understand how to embedded that in xwiki. Hi, A thing that I already recognized since a long time, but now it affects me more because I really start using xwiki in production, daily, and look more often in the documentation on the .org website: On Ubuntu Linux with firefox (3.0.6), the administration/navigation bar on top of every xwiki page is flickering a lot when scrolling hte page instead of just keep being there as it is probably intended. it keeps there in the end, but it flashes heavily, which makes me very nervous and is bad for the eyes. On my own site I change is by making albatross the default - here it works poerfectly as intended. The bar is always there but no flickering at all when scrolling. I see, the problem doiesn't happen with Opera on UBuntu so I can work around it, but sure I'd rather like to use firefox. Am I the only one experiencing this? Did somebody try to look into this ? At a glance I see no great difference between the css settings of the two skins that could make this effect happen, but I'll look further into it. Hi, I want to require users to register and verify for an existing email adress before being allowed to write comments - to prevent spam. So, I set "Use email verification " to yes in the wiki registration preferences. But there are two problems: 1) the newly registered user can edit and write comments without properly verifying the email address. 2) The registration mail is not correctly showing the link to registration. It seems to show the plain velocity template, like this: Subjec: Validate your account on $wikiname Hello my user, This email address was used to register a new account on ${wikiname}. Hi, We decided to write an online book by using xWiki as the authoring system. While we want to make it freely available, we'd like to restrict pdf and other printable output apart from plain html. (we might want to sell pdf outputs later, with watermarks, but that would be a different story - and we will probably go via Latex then). But current permissions seem only to make a distinction between view(including html, pdf, rtf, xml, ...) and edit. Hello XWiki.. I've recently completed an upgrade from XWiki 1.5 to 1.7.1, and I've noticed some rather frustrating little quirks. Most of them I can work around (eg, the panel wizard goes beserk as there are a few default panels in the xar that raise an error). The one I cannot seem to work around is the problem with the WYSIWYG editor. Most of the old documents created in 1.5 are getting random "boxes" added to them in the editor, which means when the user comes to edit them in 1.7.1, they have to double-click the text, edit the small area that is boxed, click outside the box to continue. Hello all, I was transferring information from an xwiki to another one using the import/export tool, and I was wondering if it is possible to export just a .xar file containing only a space within my xwiki, since I don't want to copy all information from the old wiki to this new one. For example: If I have in my xwiki the spaces A, B and C, I would like to import to my new xwiki only space A. How can I do it without having to export page by page in space A (and then having to recreate all hiperlinks) using several .xar files? Thanks ! Roney Castro

To myxwiki admin people Can someone reinstate/flush my progtramming rights, username: ajdinbrandic I had programming rights set up by Vincent for myxwiki.patternlanguagenetwork.org. Due to issues with upgrade I lost all rights. Now my admin rights have been reinstated but yesterday I added a new panel 'Panels.TagCloud' and it only works on Main/Tags page. The code uses code which requires programming rights. [xwiki-users] Page layout not changing after setting it in panels page

I have installed xwiki-enterprise-web-1.8-milestone-2 into a tomcat6 instance and cannot seem to change the page layout of one of the spaces. Changing skin colors works fine. When I go to the panels page and choose page layout, I can see the no sidebar chosen. I choose another layout without a problem and click save. This reports that the layout has been saved correctly. However, when I go to the space that I edited, I still get the no-sidebar option. Any thoughts? Thanks, Sean

I've added a new space and some documents in that space. xxxx.WebHome is the startpage in that xxxx space A few documents have graphical attachments and one has a pdf attachment As a guest of this website I do not see the full text, and sometimes the geaphics are lost. Als the PDF is lost. I've done this. Currently I have the xwiki upload_maxsize to 200 and the mysql max_allowed_packet=1024M. Now, I was able to successfully upload a 25 MB file, which is better than the 10 MB limit that I had before, but I couldn't upload something that's 75 MB. When I try to upload a larger file, I get this message: Wrong password This is even when I'm logged in as Admin. Any ideas? Hi all, I found a really annoying bug today, and I am really lost solving it : I have created an application based on xwiki, i tried it on 3 different test servers, using the export import between each server. My application generate a lot of pages/objects. When I use the export/import between the servers, I import only the application, not the data. Hello folks, I have some troubles setting space rights from Velocity and can't find any examples for it. This code should generate new XWikiGlobalRights objects for each user. However, adding them to the Space.WebHome page doesn't work, and adding them to the Space.WebPreferences page (like the Set Rights page does) fails (the objects are not generated). Hi guys, I'm aware of the fact, that there is not yet a feature for deleting class properties. I think I read somewhere about a workaround for this but can't find it anymore. I don't care, if the data remains for some documents, but I do not want to get it displayed, nor do I want the property to be fillable in new pages. Can you give me a hint what to do so, raw SQL is cool as well, if that is the only way. A second question, since I'm not yet an expert on xwiki datastructure and database model (I know of the xwiki.org docs on this) is the following: I want the pagealreadyexists page to show me, what template was used for the creation of the existing document. Like: "Document 'blabla' exists and was built using template (class/object) of type 'blablabla'." I think this should be easy, how do I get the object name of the used template? Hello everyone, I was testing the import/export tool from one wiki to another (I'm actually trying to export from an online xwiki to a testing instance locally in my machine), and the resulting file from the export process turned out to have around 255MB. I have the xwiki enterprise 1.7.1 installed on my machine (including a Jetty container and an HSQLDB database all set up). When I try to "upload" the exported file, I get an error message saying that the max upload size is 10MB. I already changed the upload_maxsize property in xwiki.preferences to 300MB (the information in the field was written in Bytes, equivalent to 300MB), but yet even so, I keep getting the same error message. I think this might be a HSQLDB handicap. Am I correct? In any case, how can I solve this issue so I can proceed with this test?! Thanks a lot ! Roney

I have XWiki 1.1-milestone-2.3619 available in my business. I use it as a repository for engineering technical information and legislation and as a Blog. My XWiki installation is the default one with the jetty container. I use Vista x64 SP1. The "xwiki_db.script" file is now over 3,5GB (mostly because I have many attachments) and I have set JAVA_OPTS=-Xmx2512m to be able to load XWiki. The process java.exe occupies 2,6GB of RAM memory. I have bought additional RAM reaching a total of 6GB to be able to use the computer while XWiki is loaded. XWiki as become an important part of my business and all my co-workers love to use it, so the information keeps growing. I will most certainly reach the maximum RAM (8GB) of my computer and will have to make large hardware investments if I am to continue using XWiki. Is there a less resource-intensive way for Xwiki to store attachments or a container more suitable for the way I use XWiki? Thank you for your reply. Please contact the support if this happens again. ' error when i try to save the change I think that maybe that comes from the fact that I have some entities of this class in the database. Thanks Jerome. I updated the administration app, as you suggested, only maybe not as carefully as you suggested :) I should learn to read instructions. I did update the group pages. That, as you predicted, went OK apart from the XWikiAllGroup. Can you run the script to restore that for http://patternlanguagenetwork.myxwiki.org/ ? As a side note, it would be nice to have an option to perform bulk operations on a group's member list, by using a list of all members with checkboxes. Not instead of the current interface, but in a addition. I have tried XWiki v 1.7 stable and 1.8 M2, and when I try to edit a page, it proposes the old WYSIWYG editor. Hello everybody, Just another question, Is there any way to use structured data input and view in XWiki? I've seen some pages that have it, but I don't know an easy way to implement it. I has to be something simple, like in excel or a shared excel where you can copy paste from the office suite. I think that normal tables could handle it, but when I copy paste from excel the table is no more editable. Another option is a table where you can edit rows somehow. I don't know all the possibilities of xwiki, so, any suggestion? I'm executing some code on Save which attaches a PNG file to a document that was edited/saved. When I call docObj.saveAttachmentContent(attP, context); the attachment is save OK but any changes made to my document (ie. text changes) are not saved. If I comment out this line the text changes are saved, but off course not the attachment. Hi, I should want use XWiki as a platform to distribute java web start applications. I want some acces control : only register persons can get the jnlp and jar file. I put the jars on the server by FTP with an ant task. I edit the jnlp file on the server with vim (or KEdit, if the X server is ok). I don't want use the internal stuff in XWiki to edit or install these files, I use xwiki only to control the acces and to make a presentation page (ex : "Please clic here (here), it's my very good java application") of the product. How is it possible to get the FTP transfert inside a xwiki context ? Thanks.

Hi, we just upgraded our XWiki from 1.3.2 to 1.7.1. Right afterwards the firewall registers LDAP-Packages from the XWiki mashine as an attack, saying: "A malicious LDAP packet may indicate a potential attack. An attacker could use a modified LDAP message to cause buffer overflows on defective systems and execute arbitary code. (LDAP message contains malicious data which does not comply with ASN.1)" It seems that it has something to to with the changings made since 1.3.2. Is that possible? [xwiki-users] Bug on the sortable filterable table javascript.

Dear all, I found a bug on the sortable filterable table : i have different options (PO done and done) in a table cell. When using the filterable option, the done option do not appear in the selection. I went searching in the tablefilterNsort.js file, and it seems it comes from the PopulateOptions method, and more particularly from the search method in the celldata check : if(OptArray.toString().toUpperCase().search(cell_data.toUpperCase()) == -1) // checks if celldata is already in array The method search returns the number of occurence of the searched parameter, in my case, it returns 1 for done, but i would like -1 (my option is different). I tried changing the test (if its different to -1, addind a test on the length), but did not found an answer. I think this is a quite serious matter, as this problem may be found quite often. Somebody had the same problem ? Somebody is a master of javascript (i am not unfortunately) and might help on this ?
