Thanks for your reply. I have reinstalled the ratings extension multiple
times, but with no effect.
Maybe the problem is the container restarting. If I restart the xwiki
container I´m getting a Apache/Tomcat error:
javax.servlet.ServletException: com.xpn.xwiki.XWikiException: Error number 3
in 0: Could not initialize main XWiki context
So I need to restart the whole Tomcat to get my XWiki working again. Could
this be the problem?

upgrading from 3.5 on tomcat6 with mysql and LDAP auth against AD
OS is Ubuntu 10.0.4
only "customisation" was in hibernate.cfg.xml for database and
xwiki.cfg for LDAP and lucene path
backed up database
downloaded and unzipped new war file
stopped tomcat
moved webapps/xwiki to a backup location
put the new xwiki in webapps/xwiki
edited hibernate.cfg.xml: xwiki.cfg and xwiki.properties to match previous
removed the LDAP config apart from
xwiki.authentication.authclass=com.xpn.xwiki.user.impl.LDAP.XWikiLDAPAuthServiceImpl
xwiki.authentication.ldap=1
started up tomcat
logged in as local admin
imported new admin.xar
imported all of it, (well I'd upgraded this install quite a few times
and wanted a "clean sheet")
changed admin user password
changed rights to prevent unregistered users
imported the new ldap.xar
go to setup LDAP
get error "LDAP service is not available. Please verify your installation."
logout as local admin
login as superadmin and get same errror
documentation here
http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/LDAP+Application
links to here http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Authentication#HLDAPAut…
which doesn't have anything specific
google searches for the error don't have anything remotely useful
all pages are in place and database looks good, but the lack of LDAP
auth is a bit of a pain
any suggestions, or should I go back to 3.5 and upgrade to 4.1.1
without the LDAP .xar ?
Cheers

By the way, 2 additional ideas :
- You could add a static list property (with [1,2,3,4,5] as allowed
values) to rank the importance / interest of favorites and display them
according to their ranking on the page (thru a hql sort query)
- Don't forget to add your application on http://code.xwiki.org/ once a
first working version is out ;-)

I am attempting to clone an existing XWiki Enterprise 3.5.1 installation to
test out how to upgrade to 4.1.3.
When attempting to load the main page, I receive the following error:
message com.xpn.xwiki.XWikiException: Error number 3 in 0: Could not

fulfilling this request.
I have tried a couple of different configurations in the xwiki.cfg. Here is
my current configuration.
xwiki.store.migration=1
#-# Whether to exit after migration. Useful when a server should handle
migrations for a large database, without going
#-# live afterwards.
# xwiki.store.migration.exitAfterEnd=0
#-# Indicate the list of databases to migrate.
#-# to upgrade all wikis database set xwiki.store.migration.databases=all
#-# to upgrade just some wikis databases set
xwiki.store.migration.databases=xwiki,wiki1,wiki2
#-# Note: the main wiki is always migrated whatever the configuration.
#-# [Since 3.3M1] default to migrate all databases
xwiki.store.migration.databases=all
I'm using the following environment which is almost exactly the same as our
current running environment (3.5.1):
-Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
-Apache-Tomcat 7.0.29 (x64)
-JDK 1.7.0_05 (x64)
-Microsoft SQL Server JDBC Driver (rev 3)
-Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
The database is a restored copy of our running 3.5.1 xwiki instance. The
user account has full permissions to modify the schema.
Any ideas on why the migration isn't happening?

The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of
XWiki Enterprise 4.2 Milestone 1. This release brings a couple of bug
fixes and improvements to the Extension Manager as well as two new
extensions integrated into the platform but not bundled by default: an
improved JIRA macro and a Git module that lets you perform Git
operations from within wiki pages.
You can download it here: http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/Download
Make sure to review the release notes:

Hello,
I have tried to upgrade to 4.0 and receive following error in the logs

(errno: 152)
Any ideas why this may happen?
Database is mysql 5.0.71.
PS: Interesting why Sergiu got mentioned in the logs :)
Regards,
Roman

Hi all,
is there something special to accomplish when sending mails in a scheduled
Job?
This line :
xwiki.mailsender.sendHtmlMessage("test(a)test.com","toto(a)toto.com",xwiki.null,xwiki.null,"Nouveaux
articles",xwiki.getDocument("Blog.Newsletter").getRenderedContent(),"",[])
sends mail when executed in a 'normal' page, whereas nothing happens when
the same code is pasted in the job treatment field of a scheduled job
(without groovy tag)...
I precise that the scheduled job is planified, and we couldn't see
anything wrong in its status.
Thx for the help,
Nicolas

Yes. Right now, given that an user with edit rights can add objects to a
page, that user is able to add XWikiRights objects and thus set rights at
the page level.

I think there is some kind of "safety code" related to this, but you'd need
a developer to verify. It might simply be a bug.
Is it in gerenal possible to restrict access to the access page and to the
objects page for regular users?
>
You could look at changing the Apache configuration to disallow adding
XWikiRights objects, or write a listener in XWiki that detects these kind
of changes and rolls them back automatically if the context user is not an
admin.
Thanks,
Guillaume
