Hi
I want to create two categories and for each categorie, we want to create
several articles or pages.
Is space the same thing as categorie ? If yes, how can I show only two
spaces in the main page ? Right now I have the space macro and it shows all
the spaces like blog , main, panels, estc.
thanks
Hi All,
I have a question related with the use of the "." in the name of the
documents. In my company all the employers are creating several new
pages each day. Some of them, create the pages using the character "." .
This generate the malformed name of the document because when XWiki
found a ".", creates a new space.
For example:
The name of the page shouldn't be:
Release 30.2.1 Installer Application -> This generate the following
link: Release 30\.2\.1 Installer Application -> the link is wrong and
will appear in the list of the spaces with the character "?" that
indicates that the document hasn't been created. To fix this I have to
rename the link for something like this:
Release 30_2_1 Installer Application or Release 30 2 1 Installer
Application.
Sometimes I need to delete this type of documents directly from the
database.
I'm wondering if someone knows a plugin to delete the "." or the
solution that I have to implement here is to avoid the use of the
character "." in the name of the pages.
Thanks in advance,
Carolina Ramirez.

Dear All,
I have a quick question concerning the upgrade procedure for Xwiki on a
Solaris 5.10 SPARC/Oracle 10.2.0.3/Websphere technology stack.
We have cloned our standing Xwiki production environment (v1.7.14685)
and exported the Oracle database dump to a test machine for evaluating
newer versions of Xwiki (of the 2.* respectively 3.* series).
hibernate.cfg.xml, web.xml xwiki.cfg have been patched according to our
requirements (security, authentication method, hibernate etc).
At last, we have deployed the new Xwiki artifact (as an ear archive) to
Websphere.
At the moment, we are facing two major issues with the upgraded Xwiki
installation on our test server.
(1) For Xwiki <= 2.2.6 the resulting archive can be deployed to
Websphere and the application can in fact be accessed and used.
The main drawback is that the user management features are not
accessible anymore, i.e. we cannot create new groups or assign users to
Xwiki user groups anymore. Current group members aren't displayed
anymore. The members list is only displayed a blank text field.
When I try to display the list of group members in MS IE, the following
JavaScript error is displayed:
Line: 366
Char: 8
Error: 'ASSTable' is undefined
Code: 0
...
This problem seems to be a variant of the one described on
http://www.pubbs.net/200905/xwiki/106358-xwiki-users-no-users-and-groups
.html.
I tried to patch usersandgroups.js (both from stable releases and the
svn trunk) and also purged the browser cache but this didn't resolve our
problem.
I'd greatly appreciate if someone among the Xwiki users or developers
here was able to shed some light on this problem.
(2) When I try to deploy the current Xwiki version 3.0 (or even anything
> version 2.2.6) of Xwiki, the following error is thrown in Websphere:
"Component manager has not been initialized before lookup"
Judging from similar earlier error reports, this issue might be related
to Xwiki on Websphere. (And no, XWikiServletContextListener is already
contained in the web.xml configuration file.)
For specific details please refer to my previous error report on
http://www.mail-archive.com/users@xwiki.org/msg15230.html
Thanks in advance for your help regarding these two issues.

I've modified the bulletin board app by adding an edit link to
BBCode.TopicClassSheet (between Quote and Delete) that links to
$doc.getURL("edit",
"editor=object&classname=BBCode.PostClass&object=$item.number").
This gives me the ability to edit a post by linking to the object editor for
that post. But the object editor isn't very user friendly.
I noticed towards the top of BBCode.TopicClassSheet, the context.action is
checked to see if its "inline". This determines if a new thread is being
created, and does what is necessary to create it.
I'd like to change the edit link to point back to BBCode.TopicClassSheet but
provide a different custom action. This way I could check for that action
(say for instance "postEdit") and instead of providing the post as is,
provide a form that lets me edit the object.
My problem is, I don't know how to create a link to do this. I've tried some
of my guesses, but it didn't work.
Can someone tell me how to (within BBCode.TopicClassSheet) create a link to
BBCode.TopicClassSheet but with a different custom action that would allow me
to change the post from just a diplay to a form that allows the object to be
edited?
Hope that question makes sense.
Thanks,
Lenny
Hello,
Is it possible to move pages around within a space, or only from one
space to another?
I followed the FAQ tutorial, and for the most part it is working fine.
However under "faq.question" we are seeing "faq.emptyvalue".
What did I do wrong?
Thanks for your assistance.

Hello,
I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy their long weekend.
I still have problems with my "Menu" Panel.
In order to have a starting point, I took the code from
"http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Structured+Document+In…"
and pasted it into a new panel. Then I made some changes. Currently it
looks like this:
#panelheader('Menu')
#macro(getChildrenOf, $docName, $level)
#set($level = $level + '*')
#foreach($name in $xwiki.searchDocuments('where doc.parent = ? or
doc.parent = ? order by doc.name', [$docName, "xwiki:$docName"]))
$level [[$name]]
#getChildrenOf($name, $level)
#end
#set($level = $level.substring(0,$mathtool.add($level.length(),-1)))
#end
#set ($hiddenSpaces = ["Admin", "AnnotationCode", "ColorThemes",
"Invitation", "Panels", "Scheduler", "Stats", "XWiki"])
#foreach($space in $xwiki.spaces)
#if (!$hiddenSpaces.contains($space))
#set($WebHome = $space + ".WebHome")
[$space]
* [${space}.WebHome]
#getChildrenOf($WebHome, '*')
#end
#end
#panelfooter()
Unfortunally the result is more then devastating. The only thing which
is working is the indentation.
Especially the links are weird. They all have a "]" in the end.
I would really appreciate it if someone could take a few minutes to
look over my mistakes and help me setting up a Menu-Panel.
It would also be interesting how you set up your navigation? Only
trough links? Maybe someone has a script which he/she is willing to
share with me?
Thanks a lot,
Stephanie
Hi,
I've started testing xwiki on a Linux installation, by using the quick
method with Jetty and hsqldb (3.0).
Everything looks great and impressive so far! :)
I've encountered some problems however.
My configured mailhosts do (of course) not accept emails from invalid
senders.
Email works fine for registration, but for "sharing" by email, or
"inviting" by email, xwiki defaults to using localhost (and not my
configured relayhost in the email settings) to send out with invalid
email addresses like no-reply(a)localhost.localdomain
I've correctly replaced all instances of "@localhost.localdomain" with
my own valid domain name in database/xwiki_db.script, and stopped and
restart xwiki, but this gives an immediate error, and no results in the
logfile.
How would I go about correcting this ?
Would I be better off using MySQL as database right away ?
Thanks in advance.
Ciao,
Albert
Hello XwikiUsers,
Greetings for the day.
Need to know the best approach form your experience in Xwiki to
implement comment moderation .I could not find any topic in forum related
to this .
The appoach i've taken is this
Initiating a new boolean property isApproved in XwikiComments Class
Modifying inlinecomments.vm to have an approve link in similar way to
delete
I'm getting stuck in the second point being not sure what would be the URL
to update that property .
Thanks in advance

Hi
I've just finished to install a xwiki enterprise 3.0 with postgresql
My main site works : http://server:8080/xwiki/bin/view/Main/
However, I have this message in the main site Unknow macro : spaces, Unknow
macro : activity, Unknow macro : tags.
I can crate spaces, but i can not see or edith them. I assume because the
space macro does not work.
thanks for your help.
I am out of the office until 04/26/2011.

Hi
in version 2.7 there seems no longer a tooltip per attribute.
I can remember in older version (1.7?) there was such a setting per attribute.
What is the best practise to configure internationalized tooltips for forms created with the class editor in relation with the forms generator?

Hello again,
this time I am having a hard time with java. I do get the following
error a lot:
- Exception while dispatching incoming RPC call
#012java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
And there isn't anybody on the wiki yet. It's just me changing texts.
No uploads or something similar.
Here are my arguments which Tomcat 5.5 pass to the virtual machine
JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.awt.headless=true -Xms1024M -Xmx3424M"
In my opinion this should be more then enough memory or am I mistaken?
Do I miss something else? I am really lost here....
Cheers,
Stephanie
I'm trying to create tables in xwiki, having the row contents defined through INCLUDE macros (so that I can construct the table dynamically).
* I've gone through the documentation - but cannot find the info I need, OR
* I'm just not clever enough to understand it. :(
Any help getting me started would be appreciated.
I first tried this first using HTML macro tags - which didn't work well. Other documentation pointed me to scripting through velocity - which seemed promising as it also had the advantage of letting me embed more logic. Current version I'm trying is:
{{velocity}}
<table border="1" width="90%">
<tr>
<th>Field name</th>
<th>Definition</th>
</tr>
{{include document="Metadata.row_def_x"/}}
{{include document="Metadata.row_def_y"/}}
{{include document="Metadata.row_def_z"/}}
</table>
{{/velocity}}
Each row definition macro consists solely of the HTML table row definition:
For example:
<tr>
<td width="20%">Copper</td>
<td>A shiny red-pink metal.</td>
</tr>
This now lets me correctly generate the HTML table code, BUT problem is that viewing the generated wiki page just shows the HTML code - not the table I wanted to see. I've tried other variations using {{html}} then embedding include macros within that, and (alternatively) trying to build tables directly in XWiki's own table code ... but those attempts didn't work either.
|=Metric Name|=Definition
{{include document="Metadata.row_def_x"/}}
{{include document="Metadata.row_def_y"/}}
{{include document="Metadata.row_def_z"/}}
Where row definition macro was in format:
|Copper | A shiny red-pink metal.
This successfully included the lines - but inserted them all in the header.

Having a hard time with restoring my XWiki instance from an old Linux server that died into a new one. I have database backup, that is all. Wondering how I installed it first time around… nothing is working. What is the best place to ask for help?
I am putting up a new xwiki using XWiki Enterprise 3.0-rc-1.35909, I cannot
seem to find the configuration setting to remove the REGISTRATION link from
the landing page when users are not logged in. I do not want the general
population to be able to register. I have edited the rights on the
XWiki.Registration page and denied the All Group and only allow edit by the
Admin Group. But still the link appears, I have also tried changing the
global.vm and comment out the following:
## #if($isGuest &&
$xwiki.hasAccessLevel("register", "XWiki.XWikiPreferences"))
## #set($regurl = $xwiki.getURL("XWiki.Register", "register"))
## <a class="glink" href="$!regurl"
id="headerregister">$!msg.get("core.register")</a>#sep()
## #end
but again it still appears even after bouncing tomcat.
Any help is appreciated, thanks,
Bob
I'd like to add the functionality of emailing users who post to a thread that
a new post has been created. I have no idea of the level of complexity of
this is, but I would greatly appreciate it if someone could at least point me
to where I would need to add the code. I've looked at
BBCode.TopicClassSheet, which has the form for submitting a new post, but I
get stumped from there. The action for the form is $doc.getURL("ojbectadd")
which returns a value of "/xwiki/bin/objectadd/BBCode/TopicClassSheet". I'm
just not sure how to get to the "objectadd" so it can be edited.
Any help is much appreciated.

Hello again,
we are running a tomcat-server "behind" an apache-server. In order to
redirect the request we use the following configuration:
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName www.my-domain.de
ServerAlias my-domain.de
Redirect permanent / https://www.my-domain.de/
</VirtualHost>
<VirtualHost *:443>
ServerName www.my-domain.de
SSLEngine On
SSLProxyEngine On
SSLCertificateFile /etc/apache2/ssl/my-domain.crt
SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/apache2/ssl/my-domain.key
<Proxy *>
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Proxy>
Redirect / /xwikiv2/
ProxyPass /xwikiv2 http://localhost:8080/xwikiv2
ProxyPassReverse /xwikiv2 http://localhost:8080/xwikiv2
ProxyPreserveHost On
</VirtualHost>
So all communication should be encrypted and the user should
immediately be redirected to the wiki.
With these settings we encounter a strange behaviour. For example the
Blog refuses to create a new category (see: [xwiki-users] Server not
responding when creating a new Blog-Category). If I point my browser
directly to my-domain.de:8080 I can create categories.
Is the config file correct? Is there a better way?
Cheers,
Stephanie
Does anyone know if there is any chat extension for the XWiki?
I took a look at the Skype extension, and what I got from that is that you
will have to use the Skype account/application to send the messages.
I was wondering if there would it be possible to do the chatting directly in
the XWiki.
Alina.

I've download this version :
xwiki-enterprise-installer-windows-3.0.exe<http://forge.ow2.org/project/download.php?group_id=170&file_id=16514>.
After installing java run time environment , runnin the setup and

does nothing, there is no options , the window is empty.
So I've installed in my windows xp and it was installed correctly.
