Hello everybody !
I am very very new to Xwiki. I just got one hosetd in the community farm. I
am having some questions already.
How can I let's say apply a new skin? do I have to have access to the host
server through FTP for example?
Here is another one: is there any documentation or FAQ's to go through
before posting questions here? I don't want to ask questions that might have
solutions already elsewhere.
Thanks a lot
--Hicham
Yes I know this already but for example if u want to create a new page called
World cup
The page will be called worldcup
if u do a [$doc.name] Here the name of the link will be normal "World Cup"
BUT if u do a $doc.name u will get worldcup.
My problem is i want to get the normal name of the page which is displayed when u do a [$doc.name]
Thanks

Good day, community !.
One question - is exists configuration parameter, which set name of web
application (other then 'xwiki') or it's still hardcoded in java ?
I.e. I want to run two different xwiki-based applications on different
databases on one tomcat instance.
I can set different dabases (with xwiki.db parameter), now I want set
different base urls.
//I remember, than year ago it was hardcoded. Is situation was changed for now ?

Is there a known problem with ldap group synchronisation in 1.3.2?
The synchronisation works fine if it's the user's first login (...if the
user is created). XWiki maps all AD groups to XWiki groups like it should.
When a admin deletes the user from the XWiki group (without changing
anything in the AD) and the user logs in again, XWiki doesn't re-map the AD
group membership to the XWiki group membership.
I have set:
xwiki.authentication.ldap.mode_group_sync=always
and for testing purposes:
xwiki.authentication.ldap.groupcache_expiration=60
The xwiki.authentication.ldap.group_mapping settings shall be fine, since it
works at least for the first login.
Or do I have to set any other parameters as well? Thank you in advance!
--------
Plus: If the user name contains a blank space (like "AAA BBB") (please don't
ask me why.................. ^^), the user itself seems to be created
correctly (I can find the user in the "Users" tab in the Administration
area), but when I list all members of a group this user belongs to, there
are two entries in that list: "XWiki.AAA" and "BBB" (without "XWiki."
before)... So there may goes something wrong when creation the relation
between the group and the user.

Hi,
is there a way to change some values from the xwiki.cfg per POST/GET
parameter or per script?
The idea is to adopt the login form and add a drop down box where the users
can select their current subdomain. This value should afterwards be used as
value for the base_DN property.
I'm refereing to the multiple ldap server problem:
http://jira.xwiki.org/jira/browse/XWIKI-2577
Thanks,
Steve

Hi,
Actually, when I change the articles language by the translation feature of
xwiki, the interface of xwiki web page change automatically.
I checked the WEB-INF/lib/xwiki-core-1.5.jar and found the language code
for portuguese is pt, as the language file is
ApplicationResources_pt.properties. So I think you should change you
language list to "pt, en, fr".
Or you can just test if the pt is right by adding "?language=pt" at the end
of your xwiki page url.
Thanks.

Hi Bruno,
Yes, I have solved this problem.
You can't change the languages, because you don't have the Multi language
edition for the page.
steps:
1. follow the user guide
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/I18N and set the
"preferences". assume you use "fr, en" as your multi language set, and "fr"
for default language.
For default, all the page is in "en" edition. At first time you view a page
after you set Multi Language, the page only have other language edit. Hence,
you can't select language as the user guide say. You can only see the "en"
link. Then
2. You edit the page
3. At the right "Document translations" panel, you'll see the " *
You are editing the original document (en).* Existing translations: fr".
4. Then you click the "fr" and edit the "fr" edition
5. save and view
6. next time you visit this page, you will use the "fr" skin for default.
However, something no work. you should add "?language=fr" or "&language=fr"
at the end of the url.

Hi,
I decided to not install any email software on my server, as I don't have
the time and the knowledge to maintain it. I'm used from various PHP
application to use an external SMTP server with authentication, which is
very practical for my purposes...so, is it possible to configure XWiki to
take a SMTP server with authentication (like smtp.gmail) without having a
mail application installed on the server?
Thanks,
Squirrel
Hello,
I have a question and hopes, someone can help me.
I have installed XWiki, everything running fine.
Then I've configured a virtual wiki on a subdomain - works also fine, but the virtual wiki has no search function and none of the panels, which I have in the main wiki. How can I add the panels to virual wiki?
I have read the forums und the faqs, but found no related answer.
thx 4 help, king regards,
Michael Coldewey

Well, the whole backslash thing made me switch to another wiki. XWiki was pretty and had some cool functions. But I needed it to be easy to use and in the environment that I was designing it for backslashes are used a lot.
I would hope that this might be resolved some day. Or at the very least put somewhere up front so that time is not simply wasted.
Thanks for the help.

I hope i had understood it right, i used following to mysql commands
on my database to increas it.
ALTER TABLE xwikiattachment_content CHANGE XWA_CONTENT XWA_CONTENT
LONGBLOB NOT NULL;
ALTER TABLE xwikiattachment_archive CHANGE XWA_ARCHIVE XWA_ARCHIVE
LONGBLOB NOT NULL;
But it won't work i get now this message http://pastebin.centos.org/10120
Good the second failure brought me to increas the max_packet_size of
my mysql database to 512M
Yeha now i can upload the file. By clicking on the xar file two
messages apears in the log file see http://pastebin.centos.org/10121
OK after importing i get thousands of lucene index update erroro like
this http://pastebin.centos.org/10122
And xwiki wrotes that two documents have errors while importing these.
But i don't think i have to worry about it, i think a new import from
a fresh xar downloaded from the xwiki page will overwrites this on the
other will be deleted.
import_listoferrorsfiles
* Main.howto_opi
* Photos.NewAlbum
But it's not over now, the history is gone away, no page has one.
The Navigation panel, don't looks right the effect when clicking on a
space is off.
The panel wizard shows ugly white in white to 80%
On the beginning it had looked good but in the end i have to say this
way won't work for me.
Do you have still have a idea?

Ok, I've found the problem. Nothing to do with XWiki or MySQL, the heap of
Tomcat was too low. I've increased the -Xmx and it works fine.

Try to configure it using AD's WwwHomepage field as the username or
another such field. I used an LDAP admin program to create everyones
username in the WwwHomepage field without any spaces "." Or other special
characters and used that as my username.

Have you tried using \. instead of just .? This could be an issue with java
trying to find a method or variable rather than treating the . as a literal
character.

I am hosting this wiki for a corporation that utilizes Windows machines.
I can not seem to get backslashes to work. I have been searching google
and it appears you have to either type in some goofy code like \ or
do three /// in a row to get one backslash. Is this fixable? I need
this to be user friendly and this is a show stopper.
A plugin maybe, or an add on?
Help please
James
