by Marius Dumitru Florea 23 Mar '17

23 Mar '17

The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of XWiki 9.2 Release Candidate 1. This release introduces the Notification menu to follow wiki activity more easily. The Administration has been re-organized with a collapsible menu. The Menu Application becomes responsive with burger menus. For the advanced users, the CKEditor integration adds support for dedicated Insert Macro tool bar buttons and the Extension Manager adds support for conflict resolution configuration when installing an extension. As usual, the release also brings many bug fixes and other small improvements. You can download it here: http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/Download Make sure to review the release notes: http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/Data/XWiki/9.2RC1 Thanks for your support -The XWiki dev team

Re: [xwiki-users] How to manage applications list?

Hello, vmassol and tmortgane give me these answers when chatting with them. Here: To add a new custom application in applications index: - http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ExtensionPoint/ - http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ExtensionPoint/ - http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ExtensionPoint/AddApplicationUIX Like I said applications panel show applications I select with "Administration - applications panel": http://localhost:8080/xwiki/bin/admin/XWiki/XWikiPreferences?editor=globala… Application index show all applications because it is his main feature. To hide applications for users, like scheduler I must use permissions on the app space (ie set view rights for adminGroups) To have exactly the same display as the app panel, in Applications.WebHome I must replace: #displayAppEntries('org.xwiki.platform.panels.Applications', '') with #set ($configDoc = $xwiki.getDocument($services.model.createDocumentReference('', 'PanelsCode', 'ApplicationsPanelConfiguration'))) #displayAppEntries('org.xwiki.platform.panels.Applications' $configDoc) Thxs -------------------------------------------- En date de : Mar 21.3.17, Pascal BASTIEN <pbasnews-xwiki(a)yahoo.fr> a écrit : Objet: How to manage applications list? À: "XWiki Users" <users(a)xwiki.org> Date: Mardi 21 mars 2017, 12h02 Hello, I didn't manage to display applications lists by default for user on page: http://localhost:8080/xwiki/bin/view/Applications/ I know that I can display default application on left bar with "Administration - applications panel": http://localhost:8080/xwiki/bin/admin/XWiki/XWikiPreferences?editor=globala… Is it a normal feature that "Applications list" and Applications list on left bar didn't display same lists? Like my nice screenshot: https://snag.gy/NemQSX.jpg Anyway, I didn't found the page (or the way) where is store applications entry... Thxs for your help Pascal

[xwiki-users] How to trigger an event or method on page delete?
by Francisco Barretto 22 Mar '17

22 Mar '17

I have implemented a xwiki based application in which there are two main classes "A" and "B". Those classes have a one-to-many relationship where one "A" can be associated with many "B"s. (Just like presented in https://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/FAQ/HowToCreateAOneToManyRelationshipI… ) The main thing is that when I delete a page which contains and represents an "A" object, associated with many "B"s, those "B" pages still contain the reference to the no longer present "A" object. Therefore, I was hopping to find some kind of "onDelete" event triggered when a page is deleted so I could clean those dead references. Just to clarify: "B" objects have an attribute called "A-reference" where the doc.fullName of an "A" page is stored. If I could trigger a method when this "A" object is deleted I would be able to perform an HQL query in order to list those pages associated with the deleted "A" page and set a null value to the "A-reference" attribute. Would appreciate any thoughts and hints on how to solve this because I'm out of ideas and found no documentation on such event/trigger/method. Thanks! Francisco Barretto

Re: [xwiki-users] New translation issue ?

k thxs. I wonder why you don't store this translation key here: https://github.com/xwiki/xwiki-platform/blob/master/xwiki-platform-core/xwi… in ApplicationResources.properties file after platform.core.profile.displayHiddenDocuments=Display hidden pages IMO, It is difficult to find translation key now (for new devs) -------------------------------------------- En date de : Mar 21.3.17, Thomas Mortagne <thomas.mortagne(a)xwiki.com> a écrit : Objet: Re: [xwiki-users] New translation issue ? It should end up in 8.4.5 (if released) and it should be included in 9.1. [xwiki-users] How do I run the attachment porter?
by Douglas Landau 22 Mar '17

22 Mar '17

Greets, I modified xwiki.properties and set: xwiki.store.attachment.hint = file xwiki.store.attachment.versioning.hint = file xwiki.store.attachment.recyclebin.hint = file ... and when I started XWiki I got the Java stacktrace below. I don't see anything obvious in them that would explain, but figure that they are probably because I did not run the attachment porter script; after all, the instructions do say up front: "If you're using the standalone packaging (the ZIP or EXE packagings) then you already have wiki pages and attachments in the database (since database is the default at the moment). Thus you'll need to apply the instructions for the next section and run the Filesystem Attachment Porter." OK, I saved the Filesystem Attachment Porter to my install dir, /data/xwiki, as porter.groovy. Then I installed groovy with "yum install groovy" on CentOS-7.3. Then I said: # groovy porter.groovy .. and got this: /bin/build-classpath: Could not find ../../jvm/java/lib Java extension for this JVM /bin/build-classpath: error: Some specified jars were not found org.codehaus.groovy.control.MultipleCompilationErrorsException: startup failed: /data/xwiki/porter.groovy: 1: Ambiguous expression could be either a parameterless closure expression or an isolated open code block; solution: Add an explicit closure parameter list, e.g. {it -> ...}, or force it to be treated as an open block by giving it a label, e.g. L:{...} @ line 1, column 1. {{groovy}} ^ 1 error I am not familiar with Groovy. What have I done wrong - am I invoking it wrong? [xwiki-users] environment.permanentDirectory default value: data/ or /var/local/xwiki ?
by Douglas Landau 22 Mar '17

22 Mar '17

Interestingly, whereas it says below "By default it's defined to be data", the commented-out line containing it in my unmodified xwiki.properties reads: # environment.permanentDirectory=/var/local/xwiki/ I don't have a /var/local/xwiki. I installed standalone 8.4.4 into /data, and do have a /data/xwiki/data/ with the expected contents. Doug -----Original Message----- From: users [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Douglas Landau Sent: Tuesday, March 21, 2017 6:13 PM To: XWiki Users Subject: [xwiki-users] A question regarding attachment storage and environment.permanentDirectory Greets, I have a request for my new xwiki: please store attachments as files rather than in the DB. OK, I found the instructions at: http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Attachments I set these: xwiki.store.attachment.hint = file xwiki.store.attachment.versioning.hint = file xwiki.store.attachment.recyclebin.hint = file I don't have any attachments yet so think I don't need to run the Filesystem Attachment Porter. My question is regarding this bit of advice: -------------------- The directory in which the attachments are stored in the filesystem is defined with the parameter environment.permanentDirectory in the xwiki.properties file. By default it's defined to be data, which is a directory relative to where the Java Servlet Container was started. It's recommend to modify this value to be absolute sure that you can start the Servlet Container from any directory and still have XWiki find the attachments located in this work directory. For example: environment.permanentDirectory=/opt/tomcat6/data ------------------- OK. My questions are: - The comment above that variable in xwiki.properties says: #-# Note if the system property xwiki.data.dir is set then this property is not used. OK, so it's not quite that simple, I will also need to set xwiki.data.dir. I don't see it occurring anywhere in any file other than in that comment, so I guess I'm not using it, and setting environment.PermanentDirectory won't take effect unless I do. But wait a sec: I thought this var WAS setting the location of "the data directory". So: 1. What is the difference between them? Between xwiki.data.dir and environment.PermanentDirectory ? 2. Should I do this? I don't have any motivation to do so other than the warning above, which I do not understand. How/why does moving the data dir allow one to start the servlet container from any directory and still have XWiki find the attachments? [xwiki-users] Admin+Export.xar To large to Import
by mitchellfranklin 21 Mar '17

Hi All, I needed to move my Xwiki (using the internal DB) as such I used the Admin export feature so I could import it on the new install. When I go to import it it advises that it cannot because it is larger then 32mb (Just over 44mb is the actual size). I found some information on changing the pref using http://<HOST>/xwiki/bin/edit/XWiki/XWikiPreferences?editor=object but this did not resolve. Could I please seek some help on how I can re-import my Wiki onto the new install? Thanks Mitch -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Admin-Export-xar-To-large-to-Import-tp760… Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

[xwiki-users] Install XWiki as whom?
by Douglas Landau 21 Mar '17

21 Mar '17

Thanks! I installed it (the standalone version) as root and ran it briefly a few times as root. Now when I try to run it as myself it fails because I can't overwrite logs that have already been started. Should start over and reinstall as myself? Or rather, as the user as whom I wish to run? Or maybe I should just chmod -R the whole thing and go with it? Any other complications or steps I am not thinking of yet? Thanks!! rez_spb wrote: >One more tip: you actually shouldn't run Tomcat as root, this could get messy pretty fast.
