Hi Thomas,
Did you meant "com.xpn.xwiki.user.impl.LDAP.XWikiLDAPAuthServiceImpl.class"
instead of "com.xpn.xwiki.user.impl.LDAP.XWikiLDAPAuthServiceImpl.class" ?
I have found the first one but not the second into the xwiki-core jar.
Also are you sure about: xwiki.authentication.ldap.authclass ?
It seems look at the trace that xwiki only take
xwiki.authentication.authclass into account.

pretty much all I said as I spoke about the new (since 1.3) LDAP
authenticator
(xwiki.authentication.ldap.authclass=com.xpn.xwiki.ldap.authentication.XWikiLDAPAuthServiceImpl)...
