I suspect that Vista somehow doesn't trust the application enough to let it
write onto the filesystem. This sometimes happen in XP as well when a file
is stored into the temp directory...
I don't have much more insight into this though - hope it may help.

It's like everything is being refreshed when the
service is stopped.

What distribution are you using? And on what operating system?
The problem is that the database is not stored back to the disk. This
might happen if you put it on a readonly filesystem, or if you manually
override the database between restarts. This is not a normal behavior,
and it hasn't been reported by other users so far, so most likely it has
something to do with your installation. the data back to the disk file ....

I use the shortcuts created be the installation to start and stop the
process. If there is another way to stop the process let me know.
Otherwise, I don't think that is the issue.
