Hey there,
thank you very much with the hint " jar tvf
xwiki-platform-legacy-oldcore-5.2.jar | grep RegisterAction", because i
simply doesnt have a java jdk :-(
after installing openjdk-6-jdk everything works fine...so i missed to read
the prerequisites.

Which logs do you mean, the catalina.out from the

Hey there,
hier you can see all jar-files in the WEB-INF/lib-directory. The only
file with "oldcore" is "xwiki-platform-legacy-oldcore-5.2.jar":

Indeed, this is the correct one and the size looks ok. You could check
its content with "jar tvf xwiki-platform-legacy-oldcore-5.2.jar | grep
RegisterAction" but I'm sure it'll be there
Maybe you could provide us with the full logs and attach them
somewhere (pastebin, gist, etc)?

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class
com.xpn.xwiki.web.RegisterAction
This is the error. It means you're missing some JAR in the XWiki's
WEB-INF/lib directory.
Namely the xwiki-plartform-*oldcore*.jar
note The full stack trace of the root cause is
available in the
Apache
Tomcat/6.0.35 logs.
Do you have any idea why? I installed it via aptitude on my ubuntu
12.04 x64.
Not sure what went wrong. I've never installed XWiki this way myself.
I'll let those with more experience chime in.
