I'd love to be able to do that kind of work...just
not on my current
schedule. However, I may be able to enlist somebody to do some.
My real problem is that there don't seem to be good docs on *how* to do
this. This is a new world to me and my team so the learning curve is steep.
It's a shame that if it's been done so many times before that someone
wouldn't have given back to the OSS community.

As a side note, there doesn't seem to be a
place for administration
approval of users as they register. That would be nice too.
This has been done many times in individual deployments, but not as an
official feature. Maybe it's something that should be done for 3.2.
It should be simple to code it, it was suggested already several times on
the
mailing list. The basics are:
- edit the validation mail so that it doesn't include the activation link,
but
instead says that "wait for your account to
be validated"
- write an administrative page that lists inactive users with links to
activate
