Is it possible that you are not able to make DB connection using mysql
driver? Did you edit hibernate.cfg.xml with relevent JDBC url entries,
username and password? Did you populate the tables uner xwiki schema in
mysql etc.? (Just double checking).
You may want to start with log entries in Tomcat stdout/stderr logs and
xwiki.log file in tomcat\bin directory.
There is also a log4j.properties file in WEB-INF\classes. You may set
entries all the entries 'debug' (note: it will produce a LOT of log) to
debug.
