LDAP Authentication

All, I must admit to a small amount of frustration here. I've asked for some assistance regarding LDAP on this list a few times, and received no responses. That said, I'm still hopeful that someone would be willing to lend a hand! I'd like to integrate an xwiki site with an existing LDAP directory. My first goal is to understand and implement whatever functionality currently exists for xwiki. My end goal would be that when someone with an LDAP entry logs into the xwiki site for the first time, their xwiki account will be automatically created. If someone would be willing to walk me through the process of getting my existing xwiki 840 instance working with LDAP, I'm more than willing to enhance the existing documentation in the Admin Guide at xwiki.org, so that it's easier to answer questions like mine.
