I use an round corner skin extension. Just a few customized css. Because
I already use colibri as default skin, so I tried ?skin=toucan and
the overall load time is from 7 seconds. After I removed my portrait, I
found the load time was about one second less.

Yes, I found that, no sensable improvement of the performance in an
intranet.
My profile page with ?xpage=contentview is loaded about 4 seconds. Much
better than 10 or 20....
