To answer my own question:
The Dashboard Application
<http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Dashboard+Application>
states that you only have to include this code onto a page:
{{dashboard source="Dashboard.SpaceDashboardTemplate"/}}
That will show the Default Dashboad. The Dashboard Application states that
you can edit the page "Inline" to add/remove gadgets. But when you do that,
you will get a warning that you are about to edit the
"Dashboard.SpaceDashboardTemplate" and that all pages that are using that
template will be affected, and you should clear the source if you wanted to
"start fresh".
What I did: I edited the dashboard macro in the WYSIWYG editor and removed
the "source". That gave me an empty dashboard. I could then edit the page
"Inline" and start adding Gadgets and Columns.
If you have added a gadget to the dashboard and you want to remove it, you
should edit the Objects of that page. There you will find all the gadgets
(as objects added to the page) and you can rename/remove/edit the gadgets.
Hope this helps somebody else!
