could entirely go to the
XWiki entry in Wikipedia? Or, perhaps better, it could be advisable

substitute the whole content of that article with a brief summary and
a
link to a page in the new XWiki site. I must
recognize that I have

clear idea about that is the role of an
iniciative like Wikipedia
when
hosting information about another wiki. Wikipedia is a wiki, XWiki is
a
wiki, it makes more sense to use XWiki wiki to
write down XWiki's
history!
Unfortunately, while interesting, the bulk of the information in
Guillaume's post would be considered Original Research
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:OR), which is not welcome to
Wikipedia.
Content on WP is ideally from secondary sources. So if this
information
exists in good independent sources, it can be sited and used, but you
can't say things like "according to a Google search". The WP page for
XWiki appropriately describes it as an Application Wiki. If an
independent source can be found that says XWiki coined the term
"second
generation wiki", then it would be appropriate, and probably a good
idea
to mention it there.
If xwiki.org has a page defining the term "second generation wiki", it
might be nice to add this information there. Or maybe have a history
article on xwiki.org.
