Many thanks. A follow up query...
I've been trying the packages on a debian 'squeeze' VM, but my eventual
installation target is running debian 'lenny' (something which I cannot
change). lenny cannot fulfil the dependency on tomcat6 (lenny has only
tomcat5.5) for the "xwiki-enterprise-tomcat-mysql" package that I am
trying to install.
Does xwiki need tomcat6 specifically? Would it be possible to also
generate a variant debian package for tomcat5.5? Or a package that is just
xwiki without any dependency on tomcat or any other servlet container?

It should be there, probably means there is a bug in the script to
update the debian index or the cron is disabled. Will look at it.
BTW until I can get access the server (probably tomorrow) note that
you can always access the .deb files directly from the maven
repository:
