Hi guys, I've managed to successfully migrate XWiki from FreeBSD 8.0 x64 Release running Postgresql 8.2 and Apache Tomcat 6 to Nexenta Core 3 x86 (OpenSolaris distro) running as a virtual test machine on Virtual Box running Postgresql 8.3 and Glassfish v3!!!! I'd love to get the information out as a guide since the XWiki site doesn't show anything in regards to migration let alone between systems (that I've seen so far) or running XWiki with Glassfish and Postgresql as the current version shows MySQL. --or in addition doesn't have anything on installing Xwiki on FreeBSD either which isn't very straight forward. Of course this information will go on my wiki portal as it is basically a portfolio of what I have done in my time of engineering both UNIX/Linux and Cisco systems; however, I am just wondering if I could create a login on the Xwiki site to post this information or alternatively give it to someone that has access???? I think it would be a great commodity to Xwiki users wishing to test out new installs or migrations between systems........ especially for new users like myself who have either just started with Xwiki or only been using it for a short period of time. Did you see http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/documentation-wiki-user-account-tp5680688… ? Basically, you can register an account, but only on the main wiki (www.xwiki.org), not on subwikis.

yes you can add content to any wiki on xwiki.org. Just be careful to add good quality doc ;) Thanks for your help, that's great! -Vincent

[...] Have signed up now but can't figure out how to create my own page?? Basically the documentation I have is already compiled and want to copy/paste it into my own "Space" if possible rather then adding to the already very congested Xwiki Admin Installation guide. I don't have rights to do this though so I'm wondering what the best way to go is as my stuff doesn't really fit I feel to what's up already?? It's basically a combination of Install and Configuration together compiled into a howto rather then broken up section by section..... Has anyone got any ideas of the best approach?? Thanks --K

I think you must follow now the instructions about created new pages... http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Drafts/XWikiOrgDocumentationStandard#HW… We'll see if there are other users running XWiki in the same environment that could eventually add details to your document. If there are not such users, let's see what dev people have to say. I don't see a clear process about voting or "approving" new contents. I gues your document must be somehow linked to http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Installation. I can see some instructions about installing Glassfish, but to the best of my understanding they are not Solaris specific. Have you check how your document fits into this structure? I think you must sent a message to this list telling the community that the new documentation is available and proposing a way of linking/integrating it with the existing Admin Guide. Currently the doc is the one I created a while back for a FreeBSD install..... I am going to create the Solaris/OpenSolaris install doc pretty soon - as I tend to work my doc's from the ground up giving information on system installation right up to the desired application.

Yes, currently no Glassfish though. Was using Tomcat6 on this one and as stated no on Solaris either. However both are/will be system specific included the DB backend too for Postgresql.

Definitely very useful comments :-) Am just happy that I could contribute in some way!! I mean at work my company develops projects for Microsoft Sharepoint but unfortunately I don't see any teamwork with the software in terms of other people getting together to discuss things and generally act like a community - of which SP is meant to be community portal based software after all. I guess it's a bit dissatisfying but I do have bills to pay even though it might seem weird for a UNIX/Cisco engineer to be doing that... Just lucky that I found Xwiki as it's one of the most interesting and enjoyable things that has happened to me in a while. :-D Best regards, Kaya
