I'm pretty sure there is a faq for this, but can't locate it right now.
This is how I've done it on my local wiki:
1) Login as Admin
2) Click on the "More Actions" toolbar, and select "Xwiki Access
Rights".
3) Click the button "Add Access Right Entry".
4) A new entry is added to the list on the right, select this
(automatically selected if it is the only one).
5) Into the Group entry type the following: "XWiki.XWikiAllGroup" - this
will indicate all users with a user account on the wiki. Into the
Access Levels add the following : "edit". Select "Allow" from the
Allow/Deny dropdown.
6) Click "Save Access Rights"
7) Go back to the Xwiki Home.
8) Click again on the "More Actions" toolbar and this time select "Xwiki
Preferences".
9) Under the Parameters section (choose on the right hand side), select
"Yes" for "Always authenticate on editing".
Steps 8+9 might be unnecessary though.
Note:
Xwiki works using implied denial - if you apply a permission to a
group/user using the "Allow", it will automatically assume all others
(in the above case XWiki.XWikiAllGroup is any user with a login account
on the wiki) not in that permission setup will be denied. (if that makes
sense)
