Hello all,
We try to configure and use a 2.0.3 xwiki server (based on our 1.8.2
experience)
1) Problems found :
- During the import of a small sized Word document (3Mb - 20 pages - 7
pictures - few arrays), we had a crash (IE displayed the page about missing
server). When we tried to opened again the main page, the imported document
was partly created, with no picture displayed (but in attachment files) and
with some HTML files in the attachment list. Since the crash we cannot log
in the system anymore, we had to restart it (we use a LDAP authentication)
The best would be to provide us with a sample document that makes the import
crash, is that possible?
- When we try to insert a picture in a page, we change the width and height
in the popup window to 50%. The picture is displayed
well in the editor,
once saved the picture is not displayed. If we edit again the page, the
picture is displayed in the editor. If we try to insert the same picture
without resizing it, it works well.
- Statistics / Insert of macro : you already know about this problems
I don't have the access permissions to the log, but if you need some
traces, tell me and i will request them.
2) Questions :
- In the WYSIWYG editor, we cannot change the text color or background text
color. Is there a way to do that ?
Yes, you can configure it to display those buttons. See
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/WysiwygEditor
- In the Office Importer we cannot paste a PowerPoint
slide, is there a way
to do that ? We would like to import the content of PPT files and displayed
them in a Wiki page.
If you use the Office Importer to import a PowerPoint presentation, the
whole presentation will be displayed in a wiki page. Simply try importing a
.ppt file and you'll see ;-)
3) Feedback :
The main feedback of the xwiki is a "waouh looks great". Users (IT and
Business) all agree that it can be really usefull in them daily work and see
the added value to work with it.
Nice :-)
Now, like many companies, we use a lot of Microsoft
Office documents and
they would like the import of documents working better (DOC, XLS, PPT -
Formatting).
Ok. Note that the next version of XWord will work with XWiki 2.0 syntax and
thus might be useful for heavy Word users.
Also, the insert of print screen could be easier than
creating a JPG file
and use then a copy/paste instead (i have to say that i don't know if it's
possible or not)
But at the end, the feeling is very positive and we hope to see many more
improvements soon in this great software.
Very good work all !
Thanks again :-)
