This is definitely a bug, this situation is supposed to work with whatever old version of XWiki so it would be great if you could create a bug on http://jira.xwiki.org with your example. You don't get any error even in the log ?

What did work, is to copy the content of one page of the old xwiki in the browser view and insert it in the wysiwyg editor of a newly created page in the new xwiki. But this would have to be done for every single page and I didn't test it with more complex pages with tables and images. Any idea how to import very old pages in the current version of XWiki? I confirm the issue. I did an XAR export on an old wiki and the resulting XAR was not a valid ZIP file. I managed to export the data via http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Large+Wiki+Export . 2013/6/17 Peter John Acklam <pjacklam(a)gmail.com>

Is the XAR file valid? The export function on our old XWiki 2.2 would never produce a valid zip file. I am wondering why you are using a XAR export/import in the first place. Why not clone the database user and point your new XWiki to the clone? The new XWiki should automatically perform the necessary upgrade of the database user data, and it doesn't matter whether some of your old pages use XWiki 1.0 syntax. I remember having had such kind of issues with xar export with older versions of XWiki. At that time, that's what decided me to use SQL database dump instead (I used it mainly for backup activity). I agree with Peter, would be better to clone your xwiki 1.5 database, point on it from your new xwiki then let it perform db migration accordingly during startup (and read proper release notes before of course).
