Hi Alexandru,
Welcome on board.
It would be great if all the SoC students used their XWiki profile on
XWiki.org to write a nice profile about themselves and about their
project, as well as add there their URL to their blog if they have one.
We can then make a nice page in the Summer of Code zone to aggregate all
this.
Since we have such a nice promotion for 2008 SoC (thanks Google), we
should plan some game at the same time. We could elect at the end of the
year:
- best participant in IRC
- best documenter
- best unit tester
- best email participant
- best specifications
- best coder
- best live demo of the soc project
- best promotion of his soc project
- best overall project
- best mentor (elected by the students we can have some fun also :))
WDYT ?
Yes, this is a good idea, but we must stress that this is not a real
"competition", meaning that the final goal is to have a great summer, by
helping students learn how to be part of the community, how to help
others, how to write good code. Don't worry, if you won't be a "winner"
on any of these categories, it's no big deal. If someone seems better
than you, don't hate him/her, but try to follow the example and learn
how to do better.
