Hi Pascal,
The new JDK 1.6 u10 seems quite stable on 64bit. I had lots of issues
with all former Sun JDKs on 64bit with Eclipse. Until recently I was
using the IBM JDK for starting Eclipse, but after some stable Days with
the new JDK and Eclipse I guess it's safe to recommend it.

I think this might be linked to nvidia drivers and as anyone knows, nvidia
can't code drivers :)
but this is also a specific issue of FF because epiphany works fine...
Anyway, this might be a shame to see people not using xwiki because of this

Yes I Do. I use Ubuntu Linux 64bit and this is no Issue on Windows. The
issue was also in FF2.
32bit behaves the same
I could improve this Issue a little by using Beta
Drivers from NVidia.
Apparently they have some issues too with 2D Hardware acceleration in
Linux (and a lot complains about it). See this:

really a pain using xwiki under FF3 on my computer :)
(if you remove the "fixed" CSS field, it works betteeeeeeeer)
