Preparing for 1.0 beta 1 release

Hi everyone, Ludovic is going to cut the release later today so please all refrain from committing any risky change to the trunk. For the next release we'll probably need to branch some days before the release date so that people can continue working on the trunk while the branch for the releases is being stabilized.
