I like the Drawer approach, since it hides away the
clutter and focuses on
the content. The breadcrumbs should provide content-based navigation, while
out-of-context navigation is doable from the drawer (which should be easy
to find and learn to user afterwards). This also obviously helps a lot on
mobile devices.
The only comment I have about it is that it also hides the currently logged
in user and that might be a source of confusion in certain cases, where you
would have to do an extra click to find out which user you are logged in
as. It might also make debugging just a bit harder (like failed test
screenshots). Not sure what we can do about this one though.
Indeed that’s a good point. For example we could show the logged in user’s avatar with the
user menu just left of the Drawer (only for logged in users).
