Just in case you missed this response in another thread:
Most of the work is meta-data indexing and rights management.
I think it's pretty different though from Lucene's integration (which is
Java based).
I think the easiest way to integrate an external search engine is using
the RSS feed a (Main.WebRss)_ and the XML output of XWiki (?xpage=xml)
With proper admin rights this would allow to get the whole content on a
per page basis (attachments would need to be loaded differently).
The I think the Google Search Appliance has a way to check rights for
each page getting in the results.
If you manage to integrate it, we would love the contribution !
