Can you justify how it helps to have such a
package?
With that package installing XWiki/tomcat/MySQL on debian/ubuntu just
mean executing one command.
It also mean it's way easier to upgrade since dpkg provide conflict
resolution UI for configuration files.
I forgot to say that the plan is to provide a debian repository on
debian.xwiki.org or something like that.
On which JVM would you rely when doing so?
Any JVM providing java6-runtime package. But that part is more tomcat
job, from XWiki point of view we depends on tomcat.

Hi devs,
I started with Guillaume Fenollar last week to do an experiment on an
XWiki debian package.
We got something pretty nice and I cleaned it up and added some
features today. You can see it on
https://github.com/xwiki-contrib/xwiki-debian.
With my latest commit I think it's now clean enough to be moved on
https://github.com/xwiki/xwiki-platform.
WDYT ?
Here is my +1
