Hi devs,
I propose we make "Edit this attachment" in the "Attachments" tab an
advanced feature in the advanced edit mode.
When trying to use "Edit this attachment":
- in IE you get the following message: "Could not initialize a required
ActiveX object"
- in FF 3.5.2 installing the extension delivers the following
message:"FoxWiki 1.0b could not be installed because it is not compatible
with Firefox 3.5.2".
- installing the extension on an older version of FF requires additional
configuration, which the average user may not know how to perform.
Under the above circumstances I think "Edit this attachment" will cause
confusion for the average user instead of providing a useful tool.
WDYT?

This is a technical problem, but the feature is really nice especially
for simple users. It allows, for example, to edit Word attachments with
a simple click.
"simple click"? That is after you find the right browser, install the
extension (unsigned, but that shouldn't scare any simple user), try to
configure the extension, search for the "Application Path" (where was it
installed?..ah found it /usr/bin/gedit), try to edit, "Error opening
file..", ah, search for an editor supporting WebDAV (or maybe gedit
supports it but it needs to be configured?.. what's WebDAV?..) and
finally give up.
I don't think WebDAV and Firefox extensions are for simple users, at
least with the current steps needed to install and configure.
What about showing the "Edit this attachment" icon in simple mode only
if the WebDAV support is available (i.e. FoxWiki extension installed on
Firefox) and always in advanced mode. This way an experienced user can
install and configure the WebDAV support making the feature available to
all the simple users using the same machine.

Better: Fix FoXWiki to work with modern FF, make
the script better
detect when WebDAV can be used in IE.
