Hi Guillaume
We could indeed have a "more actions" button
that exposes additional
features.
Resist to the temptation... ;-)
--> It depends the users you target in fact. You could make a test,
yet _not_ "asking" (when asking, people always prefer the most
options), but showing mockups, and _not_ speaking about "more
functionalities". So that people will think as they would think in
front of the real interface.
You can have a look at the new beta testing skin for wikipedia. More
precisely, go to Wikipedia, login, take the top-right link "test
Açai", and try to edit a page. You will see that they use an
"advanced" mode. This is one result of a 600 000 $ usability test &
work for an open site. There is also a button that hides "rename" and
"watch" in a pannel. Well, I would not hide "watch" in a firm wiki.
(too bad there they have too much difficulties with existing content
for the WYSIWYG currently)
The Design Platform work is on my
XWiki.org profile :

http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/download/XWiki/ThibautDeveraux/Globalviewofi…
-> The skin we had made intially for mediawiki.
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/download/XWiki/ThibautDeveraux/Wiki20090501G…
-> Work in progress for a few adaptations for XWiki. Don't pay
attention to the circles at the right, it is the start of an idea yet
not finished. Panels are sightly different, it depends on portal/page
and for the moment we will keep only the portals version (dev
reasons).
You can ask if need any explainations.
Have a nice day
Thibaut
