[xwiki-devs] [ANN] XWiki 6.4 Released

The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of XWiki 6.4. The 6.4 release is the last major release of the 6.x development Cycle and as such was mainly dedicated to improvements and bugfixes on things introduced during 6.X. This version introduces some developer oriented improvements: allow wiki based skins to overwrite macro.vm template, allow filesystem skins indicating explicitly the skin they are inheriting from, allow any component to be injected with its ComponentDescriptor, Panels and UI extensions are now executed with the right of their author so among other things they can use APIs requiring Programming rights. It also brings UI improvements in the Menu application, a new Mail application (and Mail-related improvements, such as the ability to send massive number of emails) and lots of Flamingo skin improvements (Mobile-friendliness to mention one), while offering developers the ability to write LESS in Skin Extensions, and a cool icon picker. Last but not least, this version provides the ability to rate Extensions inside the Extension Repository and visualise them inside the Extension Manager. [xwiki-devs] [PROPOSAL] What default base skin for wiki skins

Since 6.2 (and XE-1419) there is no base skin by default which mean that if you forget to set a base skin in your wiki skin it inherit directly from /templates and /resources. XE-1419 was done mostly to make sure colibri and flamingo were not going to inherit from each other. This leaded to http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-11443, I see several possibility to close this issue: 1) won't fix, if you want a default base skin then just set it in xwiki.cfg 2) put back the default skin in xwiki.defaultbaseskin (so flamingo) in xwiki.cfg 3) force wiki skin to fallback in default skin The issue with 3) is that it makes impossible to do a wiki skin from scratch (why not ?). Now that filesystem skin explicitly indicate there parent skin 2) is not a problem anymore for them so we could put it back, I guess my +1 goes to than and that's what I will do to unlock 6.4 if there is no answer. I don't have a strong opinion on it since I pretty much never ever do any wiki skin, just want to close this issue... -- Thomas Mortagne

[xwiki-devs] [QA] Feedback for 6.4

Hello devs, During the past days I have started testing 6.4RC1 on multiple browsers: IE10, IE11, Firefox & Chrome. I have been doing the manual tests listed on the Test Reporting Wiki (http://test.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome), a place where any user can help by doing some tests. I know XWiki 6.4 is scheduled to be released within the next days. I will continue with the manual tests, go through the list of bugs fixed for 6.4 and also take a look at the new features. [xwiki-devs] LDAP Authentication - Restrict to many groups

Hello to the Wiki team! I'm facing an issue, as I need to limit the XWiki access to users which are on several GGM groups (LDAP). The "RESTRICT TO GROUP" field in the LDAP menu can only support 1 group, and the LDAP syntax doesn't work to add the others. I saw the issue "XWIKI-2518 - Support multiple include/exclude filter in LDAP authentication" is still opened. Do you know how can I add the other groups? Can I use a specific syntax? [xwiki-devs] [ANN] XWiki 6.4 Release Candidate 1 released

The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of XWiki 6.4 Release Candidate 1. This release brings many improvements to the Mail Application and its API, including support for mail throttling. A new 'Wikis' category is available in the administration that groups together sections with wiki-related configuration options. Other smaller improvements (23) and a few bug fixes (15) complete this release. Would be great if you can give it a try and report whatever issues you may find so that we can fix them before the 6.4 final release. [xwiki-devs] [Proposal] Use the "@Rule ExpectedException" strategy for asserting exception in unit tests

Hi devs, I’d like to propose that we use the strategy described at https://github.com/junit-team/junit/wiki/Exception-testing (thanks to Lyes for pointing out this page to me). Hello devs, I would like to create a repository on xwiki-contrib for a "Review Pages" application. Name: application-reviewpages Description: This application allows to maintain list of wiki pages that needs to be reviewed from time to time, together with a date for the next review for each page. It is actually nothing like the review macro at https://github.com/xwiki-contrib/macro-reviews instead it just allows you to tick off pages as "yes, I have reviewed it, and it looks ok now" (possibly after fixes) Maybe someone knows a better name for it? The idea is to use this for "quality audits" of these pages, though in the current state the application is not there yet. State: This App is not released on e.x.o yet, but I plan to do a first release as soon as possible It is running locally and a (german language) demo is at http://qualitaetsmanagement.wiki.espresto.de/wiki/bin/view/ReviewPages/WebH… (user/passwd: test:test already filled in, just click the blue button ;)) Tools: git repo, JIRA project. My editor is vi on Linux then I use unix end of line... I launch mvn -e xar:format for the second time and ^M disapeared...
