PS: I applaud the current attempt at rationalizing the product
offering by
reducuing the number of overlapping platforms. I personally think it
should
be further rationalized by having only one distribution -- XE --
This is exactly what we have started to do. XWS will be transformed
into applications/plugins for XE. Watch is already an XE application.

Yes this is exactly what we want to do, including the maven part
(although Jason Van Zyl told me we should not use pure maven pom.xml
for application descriptors and he pointed me to the plugin manager
they're using in Nexus:
