I'm happy with 3.0.5 on my side but I believe we'll have to move to a
more recent version of Maven to at least make sure XWiki is building
well with the version of Maven people are actually using.
Note that the current version of Maven in Ubuntu is still 3.0.5 and
they moved to 3.3.3 in next one as far I can see.

Well, if this new version works with wrong dependencies, and has sometime
issue with dependency resolution, I would say that the answer is No since
it could hide potential bugs and cause unexpected issues.
I said that the discussion is valid, not the move itself. The
discussion just started.
