I don't think it's the problem with Xwiki. It's the problem with some
upgradation (hibernate or some other package) on my pc. As, things stopped
working after I upgraded. I didn't even build the sources again before it
stopped working.
Anyway, I would try switching to 1.5 branch. Thanks.

Move to xwiki 1.5 branch for your application. The trunk can move and
cause you more problems anyway

java version "1.5.0"
gij (GNU libgcj) version 4.3.1
And I think, this is what it is using for all the jars.
