Hi Allen,
that's not quite the same configuration, but XWiki Enterprise has a portal
mode that's meant for the wiki to be embedded within a portal.
Additionnally, if you look at any wiki page by adding ?xpage=plain at the
end of the URL you'll see that you can get the content only of a wiki page
and add whatever you want around it.
So basically XWiki does have the underlying mechanisms required for it to be
used in embedded mode. I don't know the specifics of the application you're
developing, but I'd say it should work fine.
