Dear all, an update with the activities regarding the red pen integration.
Red-pen side implementation: As of now I am unable to establish contact with
neither the community and redpen, nor with its creator, Mr. Takahito Ito.
Their community seems to be quite silent, unlike ours
Hence, I will be beginning preliminary design on the UI.
As of now I am planning to create the UI something like the FAQ page. Each
entry on the page by the user corresponds to a particular Red-Pen Validator
setting which for now would be imported into a Redpen server (As of now I
will use my localhost terminal to set up the server).
I am dealing with the import of the validators from the ui into the server
first, before incorporating the ScriptServices that will call the dependent
components which will do the proofreading.
What do you think?
P.S. Sorry for the absence over last week, by some bad coincidences I had 2
48-hour hackathons back to back.

I tried to look in the manual and couldn't find a place where integration
documentation is explaiend

RedPen can be run without server just using redpen-core.jar. I think the cli Main method
is an good example.

Creating RedPen object is quite simple. Just adding configuartion file.
Please let us know when you have any problem integrating RedPen to XWiki.

@laskjk is in charge of the dev, he'll probably drop by later on with some questions
if he doesn't succeed but at this stage it's good to know that it can be done.

Hi, a short update (Full update will be written on my design page) on the
RedPen side of things.
As of now I have created a class that is able to take in plain input texts
and validate them, generating a JSON output file.
I will now be working on getting it to take in input texts in basic wiki
syntax ( the ones currently supported by RedPen @

More importantly, I am currently developing the feature to allow the
validation settings to be altered.
Hopefully I'll be done with this by the end of this week so that I can start
integrating the functionality into XWiki.

Cool. I don’t think we need to use redpen’s wiki syntax though.
Would be good to investigate how to introduce a new syntax for RedPen so that it can
validate XWiki Syntax. Another option is to use XWiki Rendering (using the Converter
component for example) to convert XWiki Syntax into a syntax supported by RedPen such as
plain text or other. That’s probably the easiest.
More importantly, I am currently developing the
feature to allow the
validation settings to be altered.
Ok.
Hopefully I'll be done with this by the end of
this week so that I can start
integrating the functionality into XWiki.
