Renaming the webapp to 'xwiki' instead of 'xwiki-exo-0.9.840' didn't
solve the problem.

You should send this to the developers list.
It' seems tehre is an issue with class loading and hibernate..
It might be needed to play around with the jars

Also you should rename the webapp to 'xwiki' instead of
'xwiki-exo-0.9.840'
