I am a New user.
I have some previous experience with 0.9.840.
Just installed Xwiki 1.0 beta3 (requiring upgraded to java5)
The sql database is xwiki, user xwiki, pasword xwiki as before
Everything seems to work OK and I can edit content.
I have imported Panels, nothing else.
I have "Log-in", "Register", "Administration",
"En" in the top right BUT ...
I cannot login as Admin - password "admin"
I cannot register a new user
When I try to register I just get a login screen.
Under Administration I can get to the "Users and groups" where it says ...
You can currently edit users using the wiki on the users page. (I can't)
You can currently edit groups using the wiki on the groups page. (I can't)
But if I go to those pages I can see nothing and do not see how to add users.
What am I missing?

That's because you probably don't have an Admin user with that
password in your database... That would be normal if you have only
imported the Panels.

Have you started with 1.0 beta 3 but with an empty database and only
imported the Panels? If so then it's normal you're having problems
because your wiki is missing all required pages and users so you can
only log in as a superuser (that's the user defined in xwiki.cfg).
Note: As I said above I don't know why you can access the
Administration page when you're starting with an empty wiki. I think
it would be better to only allow access to the superuser in that
case. Sergiu, Ludovic: can you shed some light on this?

Thanks for the quick reply. I have now discovered this is sort of my
fault, although some might say RTFM :-). My problem was that I did the
install just as I had done previously with 0.9.840, rather than a
detailed read of the instructions.
I feel the following is not stressed sufficiently in the documentation,
ie Administrators guide - Installation.
Following a succesful base install of Xwiki....
a) It is essential to import the file xwiki-1.0-beta-3.xar
b) It is a good idea to import file xwiki-application-panels.xar
Having performed (a) it is now possibl to login as Admin, register new
users and so on. Maybe there should be another section in the
Administrators guide explaining what to do after the "blank" xwiki is
installed. I am currently about to try to implement panels in my
application and I dont really know where to start.
But so far I am most impressed with the new Xwiki
