Hi Mark,
We're using the mediawiki parser from wikimodel (http://code.google.com/p/wikimodel/).
There are some known issues, see:

Feel to report new issues you find there or in the XWiki JIRA project at
http://jira.xwiki.org.
Note that compared to the XWiki Syntax there are quite a lot of things you cannot do with
the mediawiki syntax. That's why we recommend using the XWiki Syntax 2.0 as much as
possible.

Mediawiki. There are some formatting discrepancies with out code blocks,
numbered lists and links to prefixed (User:Blaa) mediawiki pages are
rendered, but overall seems very close
