Since the annotations were implemented in 2.3, the jars (which are here http://maven.xwiki.org/releases/org/xwiki/platform/ -- all the modules starting with "xwiki-annotations-") might not work on 2.2. Normally they _should_ work but for that I advise you to try the 2.3 version of the annotations jars (and the corresponding 1.3 version of the annotations application), and you might also need to install this: http://maven.xwiki.org/releases/org/xwiki/contrib/xwiki-core-model-backport/ if it doesn't work.
