This appears to me as fundamentally wrong.
There are things in an OS you want not to break and copy-and-paste is one of them!
I'd hope ctrl-c (cmd-c) is also guarded.
I feel ctrl-f and ctrl-g are also part of the basic set but I'm hacker that never
reads a full page without the find function.
