I started a page on

to list ideas to make easier or encourage contributions to XWiki
ecosystem.
Feel create to add stuff there !
The goal is to review it from time to time, there is already not very
complicated stuff in there that can themself be done as contributions

is not a TODO list, it's supposed to contains a list of things that
should increase the number of contribution if it was done.
"Lower the expected quality" is an example of thing none of the core
devs want to do for now (but that could change since the expected
quality is pretty high right now) but it's still something that would
increase the number of contributions (there is existing pull requests
that are not applied for this reason and I know that some people are
afraid of proposing patches for this reason).

Hi,
I don't know if it's still an issue - that's why I didn't add it to your
page, but "make xwiki build work (easily) under windows environments" is
something that could help also.
I remember at a time, paths too long were making the build fail, for one of
the xwiki top projects.
But maybe since then it was solved - or there's an easy workaround.
I don't know if many of us are under windows environments, but at least
it's my case ;)
On another side, adding <scm> support to EM and extension importer would be
really great.
It's sometimes painful to retrieve where are located the sources of a
specific module listed in EM.

Git (1.9) itself fixed the issue with cloning a repository when paths
too long. See http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Community/Building.
For any other Window build issue please create jira issues since those
are bugs and we are trying to fix them.

Yes that was part of the issue, no core dev on Windows but there is a
few contributors on Windows who report issues.

Yes I agree, that's why I added it in the list. Just need to find some
time to spend on it but it's at the top of my related TODO list.
