Hi All, We need your support to make FoXWiki a public extension at addons.mozilla.org. The new version of FoXWiki includes all the features of previous version plus support for webdav. All you need to do is to try out new FoXWiki and rate / review the extension. Steps : 1. You need to have an account at addons.mozilla.org (this is the ugly part) 2. login to addons.mozilla.org and install https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2358 3. Test FoXWiki using our test server located @ http://91.121.237.216/xwiki/bin/view/Main/ (Refer to screenshots provided at the plugin's location) 4. This should interest Asiri: http://www.theserverside.com/news/thread.tss?thread_id=50906 " Milton is an open source java library for implementing desktop integration in your web apps with WEBDAV. For those not familiar with WEBDAV, its like FTP but implemented in HTTP. Its a mature standard and supported natively in all operating systems. Once integrated, your users can view and/or manipulate remote data in your application using drag and drop of files and folders in their native OS file browser - eg Windows Explorer, Nautilus, etc, over HTTP. Milton is agnostic of the nature of your data and can be used with any type of persistence mechanism, including hibernate, JPA, etc. Milton can be integrated easily into most web apps by implementing a Resource interface and a ResourceFactory, and adding the Milton servlet to web.xml. Milton allows you to specify which http methods to support (eg DELETE, PUT, MKCOL, etc). HTTP authentication and authorisation are delegated to your application logic. Milton is not bound to the Servlet API, so it can easily be integrated into alternative web servers. " Note: I'm not saying we should move to that. Hi Marius and everyone, Here's an idea of a specification for macro handling in the new wysiwyg editor: * Macros are rendered when displayed in the editor * There's an outline so that the user can see what content corresponds to a macro * When the cursor is inside a macro the background color is changed * Clicking on Edit Macro to edit the selected macro * There's a background thread running that re-renders the page (and thus the macro) every N seconds. We need this since the macro content depends on other content (for example the TOC macro will depend on sections, the velocity macro will depend on values set in other velocity macros, etc). We should also have a way to let the user refresh the rendering manually. ** Note that since there are both inline and block macros we also need to refresh the rendering for that reason. For ex, if you put a velocity macro inside a list item and then you remove the list item the renderer result of the macro will be different (in the second case an extra paragraph will be added). * We should also have a button to switch between rendering macros and not rendering macros. For example when a page is including another page with some large content the user might want to disable macro rendering to focus only on the content of the current page. Hi there, Today is XE 1.6 release date so let's start planning for XE 1.7. Here are the dates (to reach a release for Javapolis 2008): - 1.7M1: 20th of October (that's more than 3 weeks after the 1.6 release) - 1.7M2: 10th of November (3 weeks after 1.7M1) - 1.7RC1: 17 Nov (one week after) - 1.7RC2 or final: 24 Nov (one week after) - 1.7 final (if needed): 1st of December Thus it's a short release (2 months). Proposed content: * Working and usable (i.e. users can use them for their day to day work instead of the old Syntax and old WYSIWYG editor) versions of new rendering and new WYSIWYG editor. (Vincent, Thomas, Marius) * Working JCR (can be used for day to day work instead of Hibernate). [xwiki-devs] Building XWiki from sources

I tried to build xwiki from sources. Since the build system is powered by maven it shouldn't be a problem ;-) I've added all xwiki repositories and the google web toolkit repositories as described in http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Community/Building. But I cannot get the maven-googlewebtoolkit2-plugin artifact. The build stops with the following error message: Reason: POM 'com.totsp.gwt:maven-googlewebtoolkit2-plugin' not found in repository: Unable to download the artifact from any repository com.totsp.gwt:maven-googlewebtoolkit2-plugin:pom:1.5.3 If you point your webbrowser to the google maven repository at http://gwt-maven.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/mavenrepo/ there is only the new 2.0 version inside the maven-2 repository structure. The old 1.5.3 version is only accessible in the maven-1 repository structure. Well, to cut a long story short the question is: How can I resolve this specific artifact? [xwiki-devs] Where to host new version of FoXWiki ?

Hi Devs, As you might know, to complete the integration of xwiki-webdav component in the XWiki-UI (that is to allow users to edit attachments via webdav), we needed some support from FoXWiki (on FireFox). Now comes the problem of where to host FoXWiki. NOTE : We need a download link to FoXWiki that we can embed inside one of our js files that will trigger an automatic installation. So, we must host FoXWiki somewhere before providing webdav functionalities in xwiki UI. So, we have two options : 1. Host FoXWiki in addons.mozilla.org :- With this option, we don't need to worry about automatic updates (it is automatically handled) and there is a nice web interface that allows us to manage various versions. But the downside is, each version need to spend some time on the sandbox (of addons.mozilla.org) before it becomes public - some users need review and rate it. Ex : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2358 2. In xwiki.org :- With this option we have to handle everything manually and we need to provide an update url (which has to be an https url) which will contain information about updates. Dear all, I am taking advantage of the weekend in order to work on XEclipse's release. However I've just found a problem on the server side. [xwiki-devs] JSX extension: proposition for passing custom parameters to JS code with velocity parsing

hello, I finally found the way of using JSX with Velocity variables :) I was defining the custom Velocity variables in the doc containing the JSX object and it doesn't work. These variables must be defined inside the JSX object code because the Velocity context is specific to this code interpretation. But in my case, I really need to use $xwiki.jsx.use() with some custom parameters since my javascript requires this customization to work. Basic velocity context with $xwiki, $doc etc... is too blank to help me. I think being able to pass some custom parameters to JSX could be really practical in many cases (as explained in the http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Design/SkinExtensions) Don't see very big security issues but you may find some :) I propose to manage this using simple HTTP parameters while calling jsx.use() in order to provision the $request velocity variable with custom parameters. For example: $xwiki.jsx.use("myJSXdoc?param1=value1&param2=value2&param3=value3") Then in myJSXdoc, you create a JSX object with code looking like: #set($param1 = $request.get("param1")) #set($param2 = $request.get("param2")) #set($param3 = $request.get("param3")) doit() { dosomething("${param1}"); dosomething2("${param2}"); dosomething3("${param3}"); } The code patch is really simple. [xwiki-devs] stupid fixed background scroll bug in FF3

Hello, has anybody the same slow and choppy scrolling issue under Firefox3 with XWiki? Apparently this is linked to the fixed CSS background for the header menu... It doesn't appear on all hardware/OS configurations but lots of people complain about it. As XWiki uses a fixed background by default, I preferred warning you because this is really a pain using xwiki under FF3 on my computer :) (if you remove the "fixed" CSS field, it works betteeeeeeeer) regards Pascal

Hi devs, I'd like to apply http://jira.xwiki.org/jira/browse/XWIKI-2667 , but one thing I'd like to change is the format of the log messages. The current patch uses String.format, but I prefer MessageFormat, as it is more expressive, and it is already used by the localization tool. So: 1. We use String.format, because: - it is "simpler" (some say) - it is familiar to C/C++ programmers - it is a bit more customizable at the finer level - the code is already written 2. We use MessageFormat, because: - it is already used for localization strings - it is more expressive (I really like the "choice" format) - it is apparently less customizable, but it uses good defaults (I'd rather specify that I want a "long" date format than a "DD MMMM HH:mm:ss z" format) - the changes are minimal - I for one prefer this syntax, rather than the old printf one. Hi, I am trying to enable https requests for xwiki, that is, xwiki is able to handle https request thru' its xmlrpc APIs. So I am working on xmlrpc using swizzle-confluence-1.1-20070908-xwiki.jar file to enable https requests. Hello, I create a JSX object with parse option enabled and in the code I put something like: doit("${my_vm_variable}") in my XWiki doc, i put: #set($my_vm_variable = "my_value") $xwiki.jsx.use("my_jsx_doc") But, the variables are not interpreted... (I also tried to put the variable in the jsx doc but doesn't work either) I may misunderstand something :) regards Pascal

Hi I am trying to deploy the xwiki Enterprise 1.6 that comes bundles with Jetty and HSQLDB in Fedora 3 environment. I unzipped it and placed that folder in /usr/local folder. I started the server and it starts fine. When I go to the browser with URL http://localhost:8080/xwiki I get the following message, which was expected: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Error 404 - Not Found. No context on this server matched or handled this request. Contexts known to this server are: * WebApplicationContext[/xwiki,xwiki] The links above may not work if a virtual host is configured -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now when I click "WebApplicationContext[/xwiki,xwiki]" - instead of showing the welcome page, it gives me the error message as following: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HTTP ERROR: 500 Error number 3 in 0: Could not initialize main XWiki context Wrapped Exception: Unable to build interceptor chain RequestURI=/xwiki/bin/view/Main/ Powered by Jetty:// -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please suggest how can I fix this problem. [xwiki-devs] Completing migration of webdav projects to trunk.

Hi Sergiu, I have created a JIRA issue at http://jira.xwiki.org/jira/browse/XWIKI-2763and attached a patch that would complete the migration. Please review it and apply it as you see fit.
