Question:
Should we have some way (optional) to navigate from one wiki
to another in a multiwiki setup. This shouldn't be setup by default
but maybe a config option. Then we could have a "Farm" element entry
before the wiki entry in the top action bar for this case. This could
potentially replace the "Ecosystem" panel for
xwiki.org.
A proposal for this kind of interaction can be found at
http://incubator.myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Improvements/ActionMenuNavigati…
In order to provide two functions simultaneous (navigation + actions) the
menu element is separated into icon + name, each with it's own function.
I like it a lot! The interaction is very simple. The fact that you can
select the space from the menu and you don't have to go on the
Dashboard for that is a very big plus. And the fact that you can select
the current wiki from the menu is also a big improvement.
I would suggest to put a text on mouseover to explain what the icons
(for wiki and for space) mean, and what the arrows (select wiki and
select space) mean.
I find the proposal very nice looking, my inner geek loves the
ingeniosity but I think it is overkill.
Raluca, do you really feel the need for a fast switch between spaces ?
I mean we use panels for that, let's take the default QuickLinks
panel, I think it's a big plus that it is customizable by admins and
that spaces like Panels or Scheduler doesn't appear in it.
If the idea is to get rid of panels in the future then big +1 :)
If the idea is to keep panels but have a new policy suggesting not to
use them as navigation menus, -0.
