Try to configure it using AD's WwwHomepage field as the username or another
such field. For some reason I had to do that on my install to get ldap/ad
to work, I used an LDAP admin program to create everyones username in the
WwwHomepage field and used that as my username.

Hi Eric!
So I did some changes of config:
1. xwiki.authentication.ldap.bind_DN=COMPANY\\{0}
2.
xwiki.authentication.ldap.bind_DN=COMPANY\\{0},ou=COMPANY,dc=company,dc=intr
anet
Both time if I try to connect with the sAMAccontName value then I got an
error that "Wrong user name", but if I try with cn then I got "Wrong
password" error message :(

Actually, the funny thing is I want to include everything BUT a specific
category. Being able to include one category is pretty neat and I could
see how that would be useful. I've tried a variety of syntaxes for NOT
and OR both in
#set($category = "")
and
Blog.Macros, but no success yet.
I've also tried specifying multiple categories with AND, but no success
there either. :(

Hi all out there!
Even though I've been silent for a while, I have kept both eyes on XWiki
evolution! Great to see how software and community keeps improving.
Thanks for the great work.
Unfortunately we are still running an outdated 1.3.8295 XWiki Enterprise
server, running on a Suse Enterprise Server 9.0 box, Tomcat 6.0.10 and...
mire:/usr/share/tomcat-6.0.10/work/Catalina/localhost/xwiki/GAlj8obV/attachment
# java -version
java version "1.4.2_10"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_10-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_10-b03, mixed mode)
During this last weeks I was seeing like the disk space available in the
server decreased. Finally, XWiki, or XWiki running on this particular
server was guilty.
Look at this:
http://mire.environmentalchange.net/~webmaster/txt/XWikiEverGrowingFolder.t…
This PRDCHARPOL.FIG1.png file was cloned a number of times. In this
case, the list only shows the copies created in a short time after I've
manually removed the work directory and restarted the server. The only
solution has been to removed the files.
The same is true with a bunch of files.
Once the in troubles files have been removed from the page, the cloning
process goes ahead, but only directory attachments is replicated.
Please, any idea? Thanks!
All the best,
Ricardo

Subject: [xwiki-users] 1.5-RC1 Import Error
Hi all,
I decided to try out a fresh install of 1.5 RC1. It's up and running fine
and the database gets initialized on the first run. I go to the
XWikiPreferences page to import the administration application.
I browse for the xwiki-application-administration-1.1.xar file and attach it
successfully. I click on the attachment in the "Select the file you wish to
import" list and it expands the available documents to import list. I check
all of the boxes, click Import, and get this error:
Importing xwiki-application-administration-1.1.xar: Error while
preparing importing
* 0 Document(s) installed
* 0 Document(s) skipped
* 0 Document(s) with error
There are no errors logged to the xwiki.log or my Resin logs. I get the same
behavior in both Firefox and IE7.
Has anybody seen this or know what may be causing it? With no useful
feedback about what XWiki thinks is wrong, I have no idea where to start.
-Jamie

Also can all of your user's view your LDAP? Or do you need a login with
admin privileges to do so? If you need admin privileges to view the ldap you
would need to replace:
xwiki.authentication.ldap.bind_DN=cn={0},ou=COMPANY,dc=company,dc=intranet
xwiki.authentication.ldap.bind_pass={1}
With:
xwiki.authentication.ldap.bind_DN=cn=***AdminUsername***,ou=COMPANY,dc=compa
ny,dc=intranet
xwiki.authentication.ldap.bind_pass=***AdminPassword***

The XWiki development team is pleased to announce the release of XWiki
Watch 1.0.
Go grab it at http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/Download !
XWiki Watch is a collaborative watch tool built on top of the XWiki
Enterprise, using RSS feeds as the data source. From its features we can
mention data collecting from RSS feeds, enriching and filtering content in
collaborative manner, and publishing the results in various formats, all
these from a rich RSS reader interface, as well as standard wiki access to
this data.
For more information see the Release notes at:

Hello All,
I want to write a script to combine the first name and last name to generate the email automatically.
For example first name is Bat Second is man then the email is bat.man(a)yahoo.com
automatically.
This is done already in the username field so I made a script exactly the same but with different name ofcourse and variables.
Problem is that its working as long as I comment the script for generating the username.
They never work together, I have to comment one so the other works.
thats the code in register inline
<dt>$msg.get("core.register.username")</dt>
<dd></dd>
#set($prop = $class.password)
<dt>$msg.get("core.register.password")</dt>
<dd>$doc.displayEdit($prop, "register_", $obj)</dd>
<dt>$msg.get("core.register.passwordRepeat")</dt>
<dd>$doc.displayEdit($prop, "register2_", $obj)</dd>
#set($prop = $class.email)
<dt>$msg.get("core.register.email")</dt>
<dd>
in the xwiki.js in the albatross folder I added this function
function prepareEmail(form) {
var fname = form.register_first_name.value;
var lname = form.register_last_name.value;
var cxwikiemail = form.xwikiemail;
if (fname != "") {
fname = fname.substring(0,1).toUpperCase() + fname.substring(1);
fname.replace(/ /g,"");
}
if (lname != "") {
lname = lname.substring(0,1).toUpperCase() + lname.substring(1);
lname.replace(/ /g,"");
}
if (cxwikiemail.value == "") {
var eadr = fname+"."+lname+"@yahoo.com";
cxwikiemail.value = noaccent(eadr);
}
}
Any idea why this is not working, i tried everything and no hope :(
Many thanks in advance

Hi all,
I decided to try out a fresh install of 1.5 RC1. It's up and running
fine and the database gets initialized on the first run. I go to the
XWikiPreferences page to import the administration application.
I browse for the xwiki-application-administration-1.1.xar file and
attach it successfully. I click on the attachment in the "Select the
file you wish to import" list and it expands the available documents to
import list. I check all of the boxes, click Import, and get this error:
Importing xwiki-application-administration-1.1.xar: Error while
preparing importing
* 0 Document(s) installed
* 0 Document(s) skipped
* 0 Document(s) with error
There are no errors logged to the xwiki.log or my Resin logs. I get the
same behavior in both Firefox and IE7.
Has anybody seen this or know what may be causing it? With no useful
feedback about what XWiki thinks is wrong, I have no idea where to
start.

Hello guys,
Is it possible to keep the comments for the page opened always. I mean I don't need to click on it to see the comments I want them always visible. I want this just to be in one specifc page not all the wiki.
Many thanks in advance

Hi,
I have been trying to use the video macro [1] without much success.
I followed the instructions to upload and import the xar file into my
xwiki. The import was successful.
I then add the macro into the Velocity macros:
Administration:
Preferences->Advanced->Velocity Macro Pages I added:
Marcos.Video,
I was then hoping to embed a video into my xwiki. Unfortunately all I
see is the text of the macro rather than the video, For example:
#video('http://www.youtube.com/v/NEV2TnDUA-E&hl=en');
Any ideas on why this is not working ?
Thanks
James
Filtrbox delivered the information included below, recently.
I'm wondering if there is a particular issue the UKeiG group has forgot to
address in their setup?
Is this a problem in an older version of xwiki and they're needing an
upgrade?
Or is this a more fundamental problem that may affect other xwiki
installations?
What are the best ways of avoiding "spam on user profile pages"??
Isn't there an easy way to integrate jcaptcha to side-step auto-generated
spam?

Sunday, July 13, 2008 The UKeiG xWiki is about to close
The UKeiG xWiki at http://ukeig.xwiki.com/ will be closed down on Monday
28th July. The UKeiG xWiki was always an experiment and we chose xWiki
because of the software's flexibility, power and sophistication. It was an
interesting experiment and in the initial stages highlighted the importance
of controlling access rights at all levels! We succeeded in blocking spam on
the main pages but have still not mastered the art of stopping spammers
clogging up the user profiles pages :-(
UKeiG is now researching options for a Content Management System for its
main web site and our 'spec' includes wiki and blog capability. Our main
blog will remain for the time being at http://www.ukeig.org.uk/blog/ and
powered by Blogger, and our Wordpress Web 2.0 blog will stay at
http://ukeig.wordpress.com/. If you want to download copies of the wiki
pages now is the time to do it. We do, though, have a local backup of the
content so let Karen Blakeman (karen.blakeman(a)rba.co.uk) know if you
desperately need access to anything.

I noticed on the download section for XWiki.org that attempting to download the
WAR file leads me to downloading a zip. I didn't see a WAR file located in the
zip - is the link broken? I tried downloading the 1.4.1.war file, but instead
got the 1.4.1.zip file.
I wasn't sure if this is correct.
Hello,
First post!
I am an IT administrator and I have been given the task of setting up a
small internal WIKI, which I have successfully done. However it does not
seem overly user friendly and I want to check if I am just missing a
setting.
Here is what I am wanting to do.
I created a new page called "Vista Testing" on that page I want employees to
be able to create a new page with details on the issues they are having and
I would like for the new page to be linked to the "Vista Testing" page
automatically using the title line that the employee typed in. The way it
is now they create a new page and then have to go back to the "Vista
Testing" page edit it and link the page they created to it. This doesn't
sound difficult but to the technically inept it is like climbing a mountain.
I simply want to make it easier for them.

Would it hurt anything if I move those pages to the XWiki space so that I could delete the XAppSheets, XAppClasses, and XAppTemplates spaces?
Also, what is the difference between XEM and Wiki Manager?
