[xwiki-devs] [Proposal] Extension Points needed in 8.x

Hi, In the past releases (7.3, 7.4) we added more extensions points related to menus. These are good steps towards making XWiki even more easier to customize, still we could add more extension points and mechanisms. With the help from Anca, I've created this page in order to detail some needs: http://design.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Proposal/UIXP8x - Order: should be handled by all extension points - Aliases - Disabling mechanism - UIXP: -- Content Menu -- Content Title (after) -- Content Footer -- Page Docextra -- Page Footer (before) - other??? Hi, I am a fourth year computer science engineering major at B.K.Birla Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Pilani, India.In the beginning as well as upper stage of my coursework. i have enhanced my enthusiasm for computer science. I have worked on many technologies like HTML, CSS, JS, Python, Django, Node.js, MongoDB, C/C++, Embedded, Git and Linux. I am also a Firefox student ambassador of my college. In Self projects, I mainly focus on the front-end Development by implementing the UI concepts to make the users more comfortable in using the application. I am very much interested in contributing to the XWiki. [xwiki-devs] [Investigation] XWiki Notifications

Hi devs, A couple of days ago, Nicolas Lemoine (and Jean Coury, as far as I understood) from XWiki SAS did a nice analysis on what XWiki should offer in terms of notifications, from a more general and user-focused point of view. They had a look of how other applications, services or even operating systems handle user notifications and produced an interesting overview [1], extracted a list of use cases [2] and created an UI proposal [3] that might be useful when we start working on it for XWiki. They`ve asked me to send the mail for them on the community and maybe get some oppinions on the conclusions and even new ideas to where we could take it. WDYT? [xwiki-devs] [ANN] XWiki 8.0 Release Candidate 1 released

The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of XWiki 8.0 Release Candidate 1. This release candidate brings a couple of improvements, notably the ability to register a user from the Distribution Wizard and to auto-generate the main wiki descriptor at start up. The Chart Macro comes with new parameters and the UI for page rename/copy has better labels. On the technical side, this release brings the first, experimental, version of the minimalistic XWiki distribution. [xwiki-devs] [VOTE] New governance rule for xwiki.org: hosted XWiki options

Hi devs, Our rule for what we allow on xwiki.org is documented at http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Community/Governance The spirit is that we want to keep xwiki.org an open source project but we also want that: - it’s used to the maximum - the max number of companies invest in committers to help develop the project Thus we’ve agreed to have several parts of xwiki.org when companies having active committers on the project can advertise for business solutions (professional support, etc). In order to try to increase downloads and to improve our download page Caty and I are working on proposing some new designs (she’s already posted some and will post some more soon). See http://markmail.org/message/6wgmvwxl6h6pvogr and http://markmail.org/message/ibur6fpkyx7sq7s2 As part of this effort and in order to make it even simpler to start using XWiki (and to list all options), we’d like to refactor a bit xwiki.org so that people who come on xwiki.org and who want to use XWiki/XE can be proposed 2 alternatives: 1) download an install XWiki on premises 2) use XWiki in the cloud or as a hosted solution For 2) the idea is to propose playground.xwiki.org to try xwiki, myxwiki.org (for non profit and non supported), and solutions from companies with active committers, such as XCS from XWiki SAS (in the order with the most committers listed first, as usual).
